Not good if you are veggie!
Advantages Great beaches
Disadvantages Food if you are veggie
We went to the Algarve on a late deal in June 2000, really good deal, £140 each from a company on the Teletext. It was named accomodation in Albufeira which was a pretty lively resort not far from Villamoura. The apartments that we stayed in were called the Albufeira Jardim 2, about the biggest complex in the area with pools, tenis courts etc, we were self catering (dont go all inclusive, food looked awful). The apartment itself was fine, quite roomy, clean and a super sea view. There is lots to do in the Algarve, the Zebra Safari is fantastic, but shop around, prices vary dramatically from travel shops to on site prices. The selection of places to eat is good if you have no soecific deitary requirements but if you are veggie or vegan then forget it, fish is very popular and the local dish Piri Piri chicken - very hot.
Overall though the holiday was OK and certainly good value for what we spent. This resort is defintely not for families though as areas are very hilly and not suitable for small children or pushchairs or prams.
