The Greatest of All times
Review of The Tao of Muhammad Ali - Davis Miller by
kingsanj
Advantages: Unique insight into probably the most written about sportsman ever
Disadvantages: People expecting lists of fight stats will be disappointed.
...In this biography the author, Davis Miller, analyses the personal inspiration and education he has taken from the life and times of Muhammed Ali and by doing this brings a new literary perspective to one of the 20th century's most discussed icons.
Miller discusses the impact of Muhammed Ali on his life, so goes in a completely different direction to traditional Ali biographies such as Muhammad Ali: His Life and Times, by Thomas Hauser (This is also excellent and works well to complement Miller's book). I feel that this is good because Muhammed Ali's influence and enduring appeal is more to do with his personality and on how he impacted on peoples lives than with his superb boxing feats.
The aim of this book is to understand Muhammed Ali rather than to learnm about his accomplishments, this is both a strength (it makes the book unique...

God, slippers and secrets
Review of Act of Faith - Erica James by
Pumpkin
Advantages: Entertaining story, light hearted, light reading
Disadvantages: Stereotypes, nothing to challenge your mind or make you think
...A couple of years ago, everything in Ali Anderson’s life was perfect. Not only did she have a successful financial business, jointly owned with her best friend Daniel, she had the perfect marriage to high flyer Elliott, and they had a beautiful baby son, Isaac.
However, since Isaac’s tragic death, Ali’s world has crumbled around her. Neither Ali nor Elliott could express their grief, taking their loss out on each other, rather than turning to each other for comfort in their time of need, and eventually their marriage disintegrated under the strain, leaving them barely on speaking terms, with Ali living alone, still grieving for Isaac and throwing herself into her work.
The story commences on the anniversary of Isaac’s death, close to Christmas. Ali defiantly rejects her parents’ invitation to spend Christmas with them...

'The Greatest' by Muhammed Ali
Review of Mohammed Ali: Autobiography - Mohammed Ali by
begum
Advantages: see text
Disadvantages: see text
...This is an excellent book, which is excellently to read. If ever you wanted to read a book that gives you courage, this is the one. About the life and times of the greatest boxer ever…arguably.
It gives great insight into Ali’s life and what he went through.
How hard it was for him to actually get into boxing, and how he refused to go to Vietnam standing up for his beliefs.
How the hypocritical people, the very ones who booed him where the ones who were cheering him.
There’s an excellent account of his fights with Fraser and how his rise to fame was very difficult.
I loved reading this book, it gives you more of a rounded picture of Ali’s life.
You can buy this book from most bookshops, and it’s one of them books you will love to read....
