...AliceMiller writes in an easily readable and understandable way (which cant always be said of a lot of psychology / counselling material!). She focuses on issues of child development, partental needs, inner-self etc and explains the intricate linking of them all. She discusses their positive and negative effects and gives genuine hope that if lost, Self can be re-gained / found.
A really great book for students, parents and adults looking to nurture their own child / inner-self. My experience was once I started reading I was compelled to read on. For me it answered many queries I had about my own actions and responses (both positive and negative) to various life events. It gave me the knowledge and insight to be understanding enabling me to let go of queries, questions and blame....

Advantages: A few funny bits, a few good ideas, it's short Disadvantages: Boring, cliched characters, Lion King plot, stupid Mary Sue-sm, tonnes of wasted potential
...First of all, let me tell you that I am a major fan of Alice in Wonderland, and of American McGee's video game Alice, and of other great Alice adaptations such as Jonathan Miller's and Jan Svankmajer's. I am also British, so you know that I do tend not to like it when Americans get their grubby little paws over our great literature.
Secondly, let it be known that I am writing this review because there are far too many positive reviews. Or perhaps a more accurate description would be that there are far too many GLOWING reviews for it. I am sick of hearing this mediocre book being praised as the next big stepping stone of literature, that it's the next Harry Potter, that it's BETTER than Harry Potter, it's groundbreaking, imaginative, blah blah etcetera.
Why do so many people like this book? Maybe it's because they like the idea behind...

...the story of alice in april is
april is a difficult time for alice.although it begins with a wonderful april fools joke on lester her brother,alice is also reminded that she will soon be thirteen and will be the women of the house,since her mum is dead.alice feels that she will be awesome responsibility-looking after lester could be a full time job in itself! and when she suggests her father and lester ought to have physical check ups,she aghast when her father insists she has one too-how can she let the doctor see her with no clothes on?you will have to read the book to see what happens next.if you have any question e mail samantha keenan on samkeenan@hotmail.com...
