This is a classic children's story, written by Lewis Carroll, who was actually a maths teacher called Charles Lutwidge Dodgeson, apparently (what a snappy name, imagine him playing for United!) It was a version of tales that he used to tell a young female relative to keep them quiet and it grew and grew into one of the most famous of children's books. It's actually a very good read, although it's completely weird and whacky and out there, but not as much as Through The Looking Glass. Most people and modern kids got Alice via the sanitised Disney animated film, which weaves the two books together, but really you should check out the original and try and get your head round it. It is well written and has some totally weird twists and turns.

Yep know him well. Coincidence has it I lived in the same village he lived, Daresbury in cheshire and there are many places there dedicated to his works.
Advantages: Fantastic imagery and a work of genius Disadvantages: Can be difficult to grasp at deeper than face-value, but worth the time to work it out
