I should speak about the book if I was following the CIAO rules but I think that speaking about the visual artwork generated by a reading can be more related to the book than a word analysis itself. For once, I want to speak about my artist work and this book inspired me a long time ago. My review is based on what I felt and what I created at the time.
This was the press release for the exhibition: ------------------------------------------------------ “Alice in Wonderland” was one of Caroline Hilde’s projects when she was a Fine Arts student. At the time, she compared the character of Alice to that of a friend who was involved with drugs. Caroline’s friend, like Alice, was lost in another world. For this exhibition, Caroline decided to re-use her artwork from four years ago, inventing and adding new elements to it.
Is "Alice in Wonderland" about the death of a child? Does she try to find her identity, trapped in solitude? The "garden" is more morbid than enchanted, isn't it? All these questions make Caroline see Alice as a drug-addicted person going through places, deserted by people whom she has rejected. The picture shown is a "souvenir" of this walk where the few moments of reality are fragmented; her life is a collage with rough edges emphasised by the flat colours and the lack of contrast. Caroline took a picture of a face, she photographed destroyed buildings then these pictures were printed on fabric and finally I scanned the textile prints. During this process, each technique used left a different mark on the pictures just like life left marks on Alice's existence. The face and the buildings don't have names; in "Alice in Wonderland" everything is suggested, everyone is symbolic. It is up to Alice to find her way through Caroline’s puzzled composition.
The presented digital picture is typical of Caroline’s work: different techniques, a few drawings, photographs and writings to produce a digital collage. She likes to think of the computer as a brush or a pen that you can use without planning totally the final result. “In this project, I liked the fact I was using previous artwork to create completely different imagery” she adds.
--------------------------------------------- I hope this text made your imagination work once again Bye!

Advantages: Fantastic imagery and a work of genius Disadvantages: Can be difficult to grasp at deeper than face-value, but worth the time to work it out
