Review of Nick Drake: The Biography - Patrick Humphries by DAylen

Advantages: A good overview of a special life
Disadvantages: too many tenuous links

...I was first drawn to this book as It cronicaled the short, brilliant, yet often over looked life of Bristish Singer/songwriter Nick Drake who tragically died aged just 23 in the mid-seventies. Since his death Drake has achieved a level of cult popularity on a par with that surrounding Syd Bartrett or Peter Green, and one imagines that a lot of people will have been drawn to the book to try and discover Nick as an icon rather than an artist. A childhood favourite...
Review of Mallory Towers - Enid Blyton by emmy72

Advantages: Written in a more innocent time
Disadvantages: Only six books in the series.....

...Mallory Towers is a story about a girl's boarding school in Cornwall in Cornwall. It is written in a series of six novels, which sees the main character Darrell Rivers and her friends grow into women. For a child these days, Mallory Towers may be dull compared to the adventures in Hogwarts, the school from Harry Potter but it has good characters and children who love too create havoc just the same. The Malloryb Towers Headmistress, Miss Grayling has an ethos, that every new girl heres. She desires that they learn the things that will make them dependable women the world can lean on. Mallory Towers has some unforgettable characters. My favourite is Alicia, it was her that made me love the books. Alicia these days would be considered a gifted student, she is miles ahead of her fellow pupils, has a photographic memory and is the classic... Read review
