I was born in Pontefract, West Yorkshire in 1983 and educated at Wakefield College and the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, where I gained a 2.1 in English Literature and Creative Writing. I have been the feature of various monthly and quarterly poetry magazines. My work has also been included in two poetry anthologies: one of which was compiled to raise money for the Prince of Wales Hospice, Pontefract.
I dedicate many of my hours to being a freelance writer: Writing poetry and short stories, tutorials for writers, and reviews for music and film. I am the founder of the activist group "Self-Help Through Writing", and provide online support and advice for sufferers of Crohn's Disease. I also host a Creative Writing Forum, which is an invaluable medium for creative people to share their work and offer critiques; discuss favourite books; and meet like-minded individuals. Photography, too, is one of my main hobbies.
My debut collection of poetry 'But, Mother Knows' was released June 2009, and is available through my online store: http://www.andycarrington.co.uk/store
(Rating = Very Poor, due to the fact that my profession never makes me money).
