I feel that it is only fair to warn the Alliance and Leicester of an obvious security flaw in their system.
Recently, a neighbour of mine was perturbed to discover - that unknown to him- someone had opened an account with a competitor of the Alliance and Leicester (The Abbey National) to be precise.
That being distubing enough...my neighbour then discovered, that not only had these person(s) opened an account -without his knowledge- they had also used the card that they had aquired, to open several other accounts. One of these accounts being with the Alliance and Leicester.
The thing that was most disturbing was, that any member of the public, should be able to aquire an account in any-one's name.... and all without producing a passport, driving licence or birth certificate...
Now from where I am standing, that seems rather 'sus' to say the least.
Another distubing feature, was that the perpatrator(s), were capaable of extracting funds and services form the Alliance and Leicester using their particular method.
All this was possible, because The Abbey National posts its Debit/Credit cards through the 'standard first class post system', thus enableing any un-autherised person(s) to intercept the mail (where a mailbox is shared). The abuse/loss of funds/ and inconvenience that is caused through such ignorance on the Bank's part, is obvious.
Although banks are apparently aware of this method of fraud, they seem very un-interested in correcting their security flaw, therefore putting the whole baking security system at risk.
I am hoping that, through this opinion, I am able to inform the public of the obvious risk(s) and get as many people as possible, to raise this matter with their respective banks... thus disableing this particular out-let for fraud.
Considdering how much the banks expect us to trust them with our monnies, I for one am disgusted by their actions....ARE YOU?.... IF SO TELL THEM....then ,they may just do somthing about it!

This is a good waring but the fact that you spelt 'Alliance' wrong sort of undermines your work.
