Allied Telesis AT AR440S - router

The AT-AR440S is a competitively priced, business-class, ADSL, VPN router. This desktop, broadband router allows businesses to take advantage of cost effective DSL connections... more...without compromising on bandwidth, throughput, features, or security. The AT-AR440S has been designed with the needs of the branch office or small to medium business in mind and comes with dying gasp and the WAN back-up features businesses expect. In addition to hardware-based encryption, the AT-AR440S comes with other security features, such as traffic filtering with event logging. Traffic filtering uses the source and destination addresses, port, protocol and TCP packet types to provide control over traffic that passes through the AT-AR440S. The AT-AR440S' Stateful Inspection firewall provides an increased level of security and HTTP and SMTP proxies provide improved control over web and mail communication. A Port Interface Card (PIC) port on the AT-AR440S provides businesses with a high degree of flexibility, enabling them to future proof their investment, obtain additional functionality or make use of WAN back-up options. For example, a backup WAN card, such as an ISDN card, can be installed in the PIC port enabling businesses to protect themselves against ADSL downtime. The PIC options available also enable businesses to achieve a higher LAN density without purchasing an additional switch. The AT-AR440S PIC port is compatible with a range of PICs, including BRI/PRI ISDN, high-speed E1/T1, synchronous, multiport 10/100T and VoIP. The AT-AR440S is the first in a family of modular routers that will provide a significant improvement in the performance of Allied Telesis' modular router family. The 300MHz CPU within the AT-AR440S ensures that large packets are forwarded at wirespeed and that small packets are forwarded with minimal delay.

Belting Belkin Router!

Advantages: Fairly easy to set up, easy to use, reliable, looks good.
Disadvantages: Bandwidth Innacurate.

We'd wanted to upgrade our router for a while to cope with Rich playing on his Xbox online mainly as we kept getting lag, which was especially apparent if I was also browsing the net (which I generally was) even to the point of Rich being disconnected mid game. He was getting annoyed with it so when we saw this router on offer at ebuyer.com for £69.99 (but has since gone back up to its previous price of £89.99); I jumped at the chance to get it and now we have it, I thought it was worth writing a review about, so here we are! My review will be based on my experience of the router, and not a full technological break down of what it is capable of etc as that is readily available online from the manufacturer and would probably bore most people to tears anyway. The first thing I notice when opening the box is how big the router is ...

Allied Pickford the movers from Hell

Advantages: They really like to take your money and then not deliver
Disadvantages: Unprofessional, overpriced, late and don't take your thoughts into consideration

We used Allied Pickford to move from NZ to Canada. This is our 3rd international move, and we had never considered using Allied Pickfords in the past. 1st of all our sea container mysteriously ended up in Singapore. It showed up over 4 weeks late. We were told our sea can would be taken from our residence in NZ and delived to our residence in Canada. The office in Vancouver decided for us that they weren't going to honour that. Half way through the move, they decided to unload or belongings in Vancouver and reshuffle them into a moving van. Which just exposes our furniture to more scratches and nicks. We found the person handling our move in both NZ and Vancovuer to be very inconsiderate and basically lied to us. We would recommend anyone other than Allied Pickford. They are very unprofessional. ...

Amazing Ally and her Girlfriend!!

Advantages: educational, nice friend for little girl
Disadvantages: she goes on and on and on.....

I've seen Amazing Ally advertised a lot, but her RRP is £70. I think this is extortionate for a doll so was pleased to find her for just £25 on one of Tv's selling channels. Since I bought her, I've found her in several toyshops for £24.99. Amazing Ally is an inter-active doll, designed to be the childs best friend. You have to program in your childs birthday, favourite colour, animal, holiday as well as the current time and date. This information is stored in the doll unless you switch her off or her batteries run out. She'll count down to your childs birthday, telling them they must be very excited from about three months before the date. When Ally's batteries are running down, she'll ask you to change them and specify which ones have run out. She takes 3 AA batteries and 3 AAA batteries. They do last a long time though ...
