Toy Story 3

Toy Story 3 is the third instalment of the Toy Story films, produced by Pixar and Walt Disney. As the plot is set mainly in a day care children’s centre we are introduced to lots of new toys and characters.

I was a child when Toy Story first came out and I loved it. Therefore I didn’t hesitate to go and see Toy Story 3 when it was at the cinema. (I went with my friend and we were virtually the only adults there without children!) We thoroughly enjoyed the film and a couple of days later I saw these stickers and just had to buy them! I picked them up for £1 which I thought was a bargain!

I have since bought this set again for my niece as she likes stickers and Toy Story. She enjoyed using the stickers with me and produced some sticker scenes in the album provided.

The Sticker Set

The set comes in a box which is approximately A4 in size. The front of the box has a window so you can see what is inside and there’s a large picture of woody smiling – making it appealing to children.

Looking at the outside of the box you can see that there are a number of sticker sheets featuring Toy Story characters as well as a sticker album.

The sticker album is 6x 4 in size with 8 double sided blank white pages. The pages are smooth and shiny and it’s easy to stick This is a good size for little fingers and is appealing to children as Buzz, Woody and Jessie are on the front. I think this set will be equally appealing to girls and boys who are fans of the Toy Story series.

You could use the album to make pictures or store the stickers all in one place before using them for something else (getting twice as much fun out of the stickers!)

There are 6 sheets of stickers each with 7 or 8 stickers (48 in total). I think these are a nice size sheet to give as a reward (i.e. the whole set could be 6 rewards) and there aren’t too many stickers on each sheet making it easier for children who find it difficult when presented with too many options to choose from.

My Opinion

I think this is a nice little set of stickers which is good value for money. I’ve used stickers to decorate my journal (some of which I used on the entry where I wrote about seeing the film!) and they are still intact on the pages inside my journal despite writing in it at least twice a week.

There is a good selection of stickers to choose from but these are limited to the main characters from the whole series, not specific to Toy Story 3. None of the new characters from Toy Story 3 are present. The characters in the stickers include Buzz, Woody, Jessie, Slinky, the Aliens, Bullseye, Rex, The Green Army Men and Hamm. I think this selection of characters is a little disappointing especially for children whose first contact with Toy Story is the third film as there are a lot of characters missing. That said, there is still a range of stickers for the characters that are included.

My niece enjoyed these stickers and I’ve found use for some of them myself. I’ve put some into my sticker box for children I work with in a Speech and Language Therapy capacity (on previous placements through university and hopefully once I am employed).

Some of the stickers are a little difficult to peel off (even for me as an adult) so I recommend that adults assist young children with the stickers. A couple of the stickers tore when my niece took them from the sheet but this didn’t stop her enjoyment of the stickers too much. On the edge of each sticker sheet it reads ‘Take care when removing thin pieces as they may tear’ so this is a minor fault that has been acknowledged by the manufacturer.

Advantages

• Stickers are quite thin and sometimes tear easily
• Range of characters limited

Currently (December 2011) available on Amazon for £1.30. I picked mine up in a poundshop and have seen them there frequently (along with similar sets with other characters on)

Recommended?

I would recommend these stickers if you can get them at a reasonable price. There’s not a lot in the box but for the £1 I paid I think this is worth it. Even without the little sticker album, I think the amount of stickers is worth £1 as they are Disney/Pixar and feature all the favourite characters from Toy Story. I think this would make a nice stocking filler for Toy Story fans and I would buy this again for other children.
