This review is more of a wander down memory lane as unfortunately all:sports is no more, part of a price war in the sports sector that had its casualities.

My first memories of allsports are as a kid in Blackburn. My bus used to drop me off in town and I had to walk the rest of the way to school.
Every morning I had the same routine....go and stare longingly at the trainers in the window. My Mum and Dad wouldn't buy me branded trainers until I could contribute...it made me rush out for that part-time job I can tell you!
The memory that sticks most in my mind is that ... ...me for about a month through that window. Not exactly aspirational now I know, but at the time they were my world (by the time I bought a pair they were a bit crap!)
That was the start of my love affair with all:sports and the world of sports fashion. I wouldn't shop anywhere else. I had my bonus card and it used to fill up all the time and give me a great discount.

The memory that sticks most in my mind is that of a pair of Hi-tec Silver Shadows almost winking at me for about a month through that window. Not exactly aspirational now I know, but at the time they were my world (by the time I bought a pair they were a bit crap!)

OK it wasn't perfect, the staff were a bit pushy (I think they were on commision) but at least they knew their stuff. If you wanted advice about a pair of running shoes or a tennis racket they would always know what you wanted. Also they weren't always the cheapest, but if you have read my views on Sports Soccer you would know that I don't consider this the end of the world.
When they went belly up they had around 300 stores, not bad going from the 21 they had when I was a youngster, something must have worked about them at some time.
I see that they are still in the sports store chart and for sentimental reasons I have given them full marks across every category. Hopefully it will help them to posthumously move up the chart. Why not join me and write your own review. See if we can get them to number one. They were a hell of a lot better in my eyes than Sports Soccer, Sports World, JD and JJB! i'd even join a campaign to get them back!
All:sports is a major player in the sports fashion industry in the United Kingdom. They have nearly 300 stores located up and down the British Isles. They have a store in most large towns and shopping areas, sometimes two in some areas. They were founded 1977 in Manchester, which makes them the oldest existing large chain of sports fashion retailers in the UK. They have a good heritage as a high street retailer and they are a household name. This ... ...somewhat in recent years. I will try and give as much details about the company, their products and the good and bad points about the firm.
In recent years, All:Sports standards and what they stock have gone dramatically down hill. They don't have the large selection of products from the two main sports brands, Adidas and Nike, that they once had. They seem to have branched out and have introduced too many new brands. For example, they had one style ...

I shop at Allsports because I am a very keen runner, and often need clothing and footwear, so I often shop at Allsports, as I believe they have a good range and of course they have a good stock of brand names.
The stores are large so products are not cramped, they have sweatshirts jackets, trainers, and they products are aimed for children, and adults. When you first shop there you sign up for their bonus card and if you continue to shop there you ... ...allot of money on brand names then you receive more bonus points and more savings.
The prices are reasonable, and I always find that the staff are really friendly and really eager to help you if you require some assistance, and if they don’t have a product in stock they will deliver/order it for you specially. All in all a very good sport store. ...

Allsports is a store that is excellent if you want to buy brand names at good prices, if you love football then they have the majority of the strips from the big clubs and those from your own area. They specialise in sport clothing, trainers, and appeal to both men and women. The products are always at good prices, with sales on at most times in the year. They stock the latest trainers, and have helpful staff who are their to give you advice if you ... ...than the norm.
However Allsports is great if you require some sports clothing, they even do sports clothes in toddler size, if you want something but can’t find it ask because they can order it for you. I find them very helpful in that way.
A useful store if you require sports wear which is quality and reasonably priced. ...

Advantages: All sports covered Disadvantages: But that has to allow for a slight less variety on normal sports.
This shop has to be one of the best in the UK for extreme sports, Athletics and trendability. I go in here frequently and can find skateboards, rollerblades, baseball gear, running gear and anything really. I like the shirts and T-shirts especially the No Fear ones. The clothes are of good range and quality and the equipment you just can't get anywhere else. Forget your JD and even Sports Connection because. Its all in the name because it really ...

Advantages: Good range of spoartswear Disadvantages: Very rude staff
...that if they go to Allsports to buy any sort of sportswear, just to be aware of this strange policy that the Southampton Branch have and about the general rudeness of the staff.. You might find it useful to check that everything you have been given is actaully what you asked for, especially with trainers which tend to be put in a box by the assistants without you being able to check them. ...

Advantages: Fair prices Disadvantages: Store layout, poor staff training
. Next stop JJB sports. Only one type but not in the correct size. Unbelievable. What next? JD sports. This was quite an experience. I quote the assistant, "We only had a few and we sent them all back" she said laughing. Yes, a sports shop that does not sell Rugby boots. Undeterred I went to Allsports, a good name ALL SPORTS! Question, "Do you sell Rugby boots?" Answer, "NO". I bet you had already guessed this one.
Why am I doing this review under Sports Soccer? Because I then went to a different Sports Soccer store in Rotherham and they had a small selection of Rugby boots in lots of different sizes. At last a satisfied customer.
The staff might be rude, the layout of the stores might be cramped and claustrophobic and the queues at peak times can be long and slow but you can ususally find what you want at a decent price. ...
Advantages: Warm & dry Disadvantages: Can be very crowded, same old shops
, which did detract from my visit.
The other main problem with West Quay is the traffic - although, to be fair, this is a problem with Southampton city centre overall, rather than with the shopping centre itself. If you are not careful, you can still find yourself sitting in long queues as you approach or leave the centre.
Most of the popular chains in Southampton have now moved into West Quay, including clothes shops (Gap, H&M, Monsoon, Warehouse and Next), jewellery (H Samuels, Ernest Jones, Swarovski), sports shops (Nike and AllSports) plus a large John Lewis store and Marks and Spencers too.
There's also a choice of places to eat, from coffee shops (Starbucks & Costa Coffee) to restaurants (Pizza Hut, Harry Ramsden's and Cafe Giardino).
Overall, I thought that the centre was pretty well thought-out, and a nice place to be. I ...
Advantages: Women's clothes shops lined together :o) Disadvantages: Men will complain because their's aren't :o(
within a few meters of each other. This is great if your looking for the perfect Saturday night party top and your in a rush!
Unfortunately the men aren’t as fortunate – maybe the builders thought men needed the exercise??? Shops such as Top Man, Burton, Principles For Men, Ciro Citterio, Blakes, and Suits You are spread around, so guys…where comfy shoes!!!
There’s a good choice of shoe shops (Dolcis, Clarks, Saxone…), sport shops (Dixon Sport, Allsports, JJB…) and also Jewellers (Beaver Brooks, Earnest Jones, H Samuel…). However if it’s electrical goods you want there you’re stuck with Dixons. For the kids (and big kids) there’s a Disney Store, Early Learning Centre, Mother Care, Adams and Electronic Boutique.
Other shops include HMV, Car Phone Warehouse, BHS, Superdrug ...
