All:sports is a major player in the sports fashion industry in the United Kingdom. They have nearly 300 stores located up and down the British Isles. They have a store in most large towns and shopping areas, sometimes two in some areas. They were founded 1977 in Manchester, which makes them the oldest existing large chain of sports fashion retailers in the UK. They have a good heritage as a high street retailer and they are a household name. This has been the reason for their growth, which has slowed somewhat in recent years. I will try and give as much details about the company, their products and the good and bad points about the firm.
In recent years, All:Sports standards and what they stock have gone dramatically down hill. They don't have the large selection of products from the two main sports brands, Adidas and Nike, that they once had. They seem to have branched out and have introduced too many new brands. For example, they had one style of Adidas track suit bottoms on sale the last time I ventured into a store. They are no longer a sports shop in my opinion.
There is no reason to shop here if there is a JD Sports, or JJB for that matter, near to where you live. All:Sports is so bad that even JJB is better. JD Sports has to be the number one destination for the latest sportswear.
The stores themselves are pretty well laid out and organised. You can find what you are looking for, not that there is actually much that you want to buy. The trainers are normally located on the back wall, with some on the two walls either side. The football and rugby balls are usually above the trainers. The accessories, such as hats, caps, gloves and socks are behind the till. The clothing is in the middle and around the sides of the shop. There is a lot of space in some of the stores, while others can be very cramped. They don't often get very busy so you should be able to get in and out with ease. The staff are pretty good, but they do fart about and they can be very slow.
I have noticed some variations in the range of products that different branches of All:Sports stock. In London stores, for example, they do tend to stock more clothing and a greater range of trainers, in line with the demand. The stores in Bournemouth and Southampton tend to be more 'skater' orientated and they have more equipment. I prefer the London stores because they have more fashionable styles of clothes and footwear available. They tend to have a greater number of styles and concerntrate on Adidas and Nike trainers, as opposed to the skater rubbish.
All:Sports does stock more different brands than any other sport shop, although it could be argued that some aren't sports brands. They are: Nike - Adidas - Reebok - Puma - Umbro - Elesse - Fila - Ecko - Helly Hansen - Animal - DC and various other skater brands. This is pretty impressive but as I have said before, many aren't sports brands.
There is one good thing about All:Sports when compared to its main rival JD Sports. They do tend to sell some sporting equipment and apparatus. They stock things such as cricket and baseball bats through to footballs and rugby balls. They also have accessories for some of the more obscure sports such as swimming and aerobics. This is good because they can gain some credit as being a sports shop. Some stores actually offer a stringing service for tennis and badminton rackets, as well as facilities for applying new grips to cricket bats. This is a personal service that most other sports shops don't offer.
There is a website for All:Sports, which is allsports.co.uk. They offer footwear, clothing and accessories, as well as an extensive selection of replica football kits. There are only about 30 items of clothing that can be bought of the site and that includes the mens, womans and kids sizes. The have around 10 different pairs of trainers to chose from, which is poor compared to rivals JD Sports. The range of replica football shirts is quite impressive, with shirts from clubs in the Premiership, The Coca-Cola Championship, European sides and International teams. I have bought a Juventus shirt from the site and it was delivered in quick time.
So, I personally don't shop here because they just don't have enough quality and a large enough selection of 'sports' brands to choose from. They need to re-focus their range of products, back to brand such as Nike and Adidas. I think it's a shame that they have become so poor, they were once very good. I would point you in the direction of JD Sports and then JJB as a second choice when purchasing sportswear. They are far superior and offer a greater range, that are more stylish and fashionable than All:Sports.

I was not impressed with them either. Prefer Footlocker. More pricey, though.

have to say that i think this sports shop is about the worst sports shop on the go. They don't even have a sensible name...ti's not grammatically correct - which for me says it's just plain stupid..sorry, but I detest this store...That said, the review was good...John
