Foundation is something I've not managed to find in the less expensive lines that actually works for me. Almay is the only one, however, with foundation/powder that I'm never allergic to; comes in (almost) the right colour & doesn't turn orange on me. That turning orange problem is my main issue with all the less expensive brands, I find. The company has a range for different skin types, but the oil-free are best for skins which are oily or a tendancy to shine by the end of the day - without being drying, so they're worth checking out for quite a range of people. My main gripe is that they do tend to sink into any open pores - so a good base is a necessity under these
Advantages: oil free Disadvantages: dosen't stay matt for long
I used to use Max Factor Beautiful Skin makeup until recently when the product line was discontinued. I brought my max factor foundation with me to a local pharmacy to see if I could match up the colour with another foundation. I wanted an oilfreefoundation as my skin can get quite oily and always looks shiny. I saw the Almay skin stays clean foundation and thought it should be quite good. I found a foundation that practically matched the colour of my max factor foundation and purchased the product.
I got home and tried the foundation. first when I put the foundation on it had a nice tingly refreshing feel which is quite unusual for a foundation. The foundation looked petty even and smooth. Later on about 2 hours later I noticed that the matt look hadn't lasted that long and my face looked shiny which I wasnt impressed with.

Advantages: Protects and hydrates skin, great for sensitive skin to substitute foundation Disadvantages: Too much can make the face shine temporarily
in Boots I found Almay Glow Healthy Skin Brightener Shade 01 Natural Glow and I thought I'd give it a try.
The packaging
Glow Healthy comes in a 40ml tube with a flip top that's very handy. The actual colour of the tube is the colour of the shade; not the colour inside the tube but rather the shade on your skin you'll get with the product once it's applied.
What it says it does
* Vitamins A, C and E plus Aloe Vera help nourish and smooth
Appearance
Contrary to its title, Glow Healthy doesn't contain any artificial brightening agent. It does not bleach the skin that e.g. some of the Fade Out creams that also say: skin brightener. This Almay product is like a liquid foundation, without the mineral bits. It's slightly oily to the touch (although it says, it's oil-free) and has an orange-y colour. This ...
Advantages: Adapts to your skin colour, lightweight, natural looking Disadvantages: Very sheer coverage
beads which are activated when you smooth it on, transforming to complement your skin tone. This is supposed to give you a sheer and natural finish, and leave your skin looking smooth and even. It contains grapeseed, ginseng and ginkgo biloba, which are all natural antioxidants to give your skin a healthy glow.
I also noticed on the website that this foundation won a 2006 Health Magazine ?Healthy Beauty? Award, and a 2006 Redbook Magazine ?Most Valuable Product? Beauty Award.
Suitability
This foundation, as with all Almay products, is hypoallergenic, and has been clinically, dermatologically and allergy tested.
It is oil-free and non comedogenic (meaning it won?t clog pores), and is suitable for all skin types.
As the darkest shade available is medium, I would not expect this foundation to be suitable for darker skin tones ...
