Tasty Swedish Food That Isn't Meatballs, Almondy Diam Cake

Advantages Tasty, tasty, and very tasty. Smells fantastic. Good use of Daim.
Disadvantages The almond biscuit isn't the best texture. Not good for you.

Sweden. I think of a few things when I think of Sweden. Swedes, Ulrika Johnson and of course, Ikea. In fact it would be hard for me not to consider Ikea, as where I currently live in Coventry there is one just a 10 minute walk from my house, imposing it's large yellow and blue shapes upon the city centre. People usually go to Ikea for one of two reasons. Cheap furniture, or Swedish food. And while before I've tried a host of things including Kopperberg cider, oat crunch biscuits, some Swedish gingerbread, and who can forget the Swedish meatballs, but I have never tried the Diam cake they sell ... more

YUMMY BUT NOT GOOD ON THE TUMMY 03/04/2009

Advantages Great tasting, nice selection of sweet ingredients fused together & now easy to buy
Disadvantages I think its priced on the high side & is very sickly if you eat more than 1/2 a slice.

INTRODUCTION I was first introduced to the lurvley Almondy Daim cake whilst on a trip to the dreaded Ikea. I personally only go there for the food and now I have come across the Daim cake I always make a beeline for a slice whenever possible. Everyone laughs at me because I call it Daim cake and it used to be dime, I am not sure why they changed it but the chocolate bar hasn’t changed either yet the name has. Advantages Not a lot really.
Disadvantages Too sweet, too expensive and too fattening.

I had to wait till my Sunday trip to IKEA to give this a try and let you know what my opinion on it was, because you just cannot find it anywhere else. I have to say that this Almondy Daim Cake is pretty much on a par with most things Swedish (not that good)! Almondy who are the company that make this Daim cake are responsible for a few other cakes such as the Snickers tart but to be honest after trying this one I think I will be giving the rest a miss. This cake is loosely based on the Daim bar once known as the Dime bar and it does have the sweetness of a Daim bar but that is about it. The ... more

Advantages Great smell, High quality look, Chocolate on top.
Disadvantages Too many almonds, Price.

Almonds alert !! Last weekend my mum came back from shopping and wanted me to try an Almondy cake that she had brought. I wasn’t so sure but I love cakes so thought I’d give it a go. As I like most cake and chocolate being young I was quite intrigued in what it would taste like. We don’t usually have a lot of cakes in the house, only on birthdays or celebrations, as mum is usually on a diet. We are a family for puddings though at family gatherings. the almondy cake is so soft and deliouses.taste of flavour is so good . i want to eat it again and again . in my opinion the taste and quality which i want in any cake i found on this . i love this cake . its very soft to eat . and not harmful for body . according to my opinion there is very less fat on this product . and it is also suitable for healthy people. its chocklateflavour is so deliouses. and the packing of this product is so excellent . this product accoding to my thinking can be preseve number of days if we cant eat complete in same day . once again i want to say i want to eat this ... more
