...the back of the unit to the leads that my previous head unit used. This allows the 2 connectors to slip into each other without cutting and having to match up the coloured wires.
The touch glide bar allows the user to quickly browse thorugh the many different songs that the MP3 unit can play. I recently had my car broken into so the deceiding factor of purchasing this unit was the detachable front panel.
The Alpine 9855r is IPOD ready however needs additional KCA-420i adaptor.
Other Features Include...
Downloadable custom settings for the head unit from Alpines i-Personalize website
MediaXpander to make your compressed music sound like CDs and comes with a nifty little remote for passengers to use.
Most of all the unit is extremelly fun to use with excellent sound quality and fully customizable. I reccomend this this unit...

Advantages: It is very highly powered, and can handle anything Disadvantages: i could not get it to work whilst the ignition was off
...this headunit is the best headunit i have had for a while, it has a glidetouch function which makes selecting cd or radio a lot easier whilst driving. it also has a high power output, i have 6 sets of speakers in my car and an amplifier and sub and the cd player runs them all very happily. all are after market alpine and pioneer speakers, also fusion 6x9's and amp and sub, and the cd player cannot be faulted. i chose to go for the mid range alpine cd player to get the best functions at a reasonable price and found that i got all this and more.
the colours can also be changed and it can tilt 4 different angles, all of this i did not know until after buying this and these extra functions amazed me! the colours are completly different and the headunit looks brilliant!
Not to be faulted...

Advantages: Best sound quality in its price range Disadvantages: Ugly as sin
...The ultimate in ICE (in car entertainment). ALPINE!
A big name for many years in the automotive industry delivering some of the best amplifiers, headunits and speakers available.
The CDA range definately does not dissapoint. Featuring all of the classic alpine qualities including the old alpine look with the 4 buttons to the left of the round volume control (which now functions as a whole lot more).
Its an absolutely ugly headunit as all alpines are, a pig to operate and I dont think there is anyone in the world that has mastered every option on an alpine unit since they first started producing them, but from the moment you first power it up you fall in love with the depth, warmth and clarity of the sound reproduction. My favourite trick is to leave the eq exactly as it comes from factory, but to increase the subwoofer output...
