...CF cards have to be one of the most boring things to write about, and they are all much of a muchness in terms of manufacturing quality and durability, so I'll be brief.
Altec have a good reputation, as far as I am aware, for products like these - and of the dozen or so of the memory cards I have, none have had any problems.
An 8MB card will hold approx 8 hi-res photos from a decent digital camera. This is obviously not a lot, but if you were doing portraits of people, or a few quick shots of certain places, keeping them on distinct cards could have its advantages.
Furthermore, just because you mostly see these being used by cameras, doesn't mean you can't use them for other things. I carry some important data - encryption keys, email address books, and important documents on one. You can use readily available (and cheap) adapters...

...This camera is excellent for family use. With 4 megapixel (4 million pixels a inch) you can print onto an A4 piece of paper and still get a good quality images.
The camera will take compactflash memory, if you havent got any digital memory dont worry it usually comes with 32 MB.
The camera will also allow you to take videos. The camera has a built in microphone to capture sound. The video length depends on how much memory you have. The bigger the memory the better.
when i purchased the camera I bought an extra battery and a 128MBcompactflash card. This has suited me for about 5 months and I do not regret purchasing this camera.
Before I went on holiday I bought another memory card (256MB). With the ability to take more photographs than before I was entirely happy.

Having bought this card to be used in Canon EOS 20D & 40D digital cameras they are extremely rapid and much better than the lower speed Sandisk Compact Flashes or other makes. The cameras have not as yet had to stop shooting to allow the card to catch up more
