The styling of this midrange 5.1 speaker is elegant. The satellites are tall and sleek, taking very little desktop space. The front firing woofer is also similar in design. The control pod is feature rich and well implemented. The wireless remote lets you enjoy movies without having to sit too close to the PC. All the volume controls can be managed using the control pod or the wireless remote. There's also a headphone jack and a up-mix switch which allows you to use the 2/4 channel mode to enjoy immersive six-speaker sound from any source. The satellites are wall-mountable and wire size is sufficient for an average-sized room. Setting up the speaker system is a breeze, thanks to the colour coding of connectors.
The VS 3151 sounds loud and crisp. The mids and highs are handled very well and the sound is balanced, warm and dynamic. The woofer does vey well to start with, but when you hike the volume over the 60-70 percent mark, it doesn't keep up with the loud and very capable satellies.
The set is better suited for movies and gaming than music, which actually makes sense. As a 5.1 system's primary application is movies and games. The absence of dedicated midrange drivers is evident in music applications where the lower mids are not well pronounced. All -in-all the VS 3151 is a good 5.1 speaker system for gamers and movie buffs. The excellent feature set and good implementations are its high points.
