Having just returned from my trip to Alton Towers and my stay at the amazing hotel i feel that the hotel itself should have a review. In one word it's AMAZING!It really is worth the money you pay to stay and depending on which room you opt for isnt as costly as one first expects, and has many advantages for people wishing to visit the park.I had visited many sites to try and find accurate details on the hotel such as cost and rooms but none were accurate, prices had hundreds added on!Knowing how hard it is to find info on the hotel i will tell u all i know to date. ......ROOMS...(details taken from 2002 brochure)
GARDEN ROOMS....everything's coming up roses in these charming rooms.Theres trellis wallpaper and watering can lamps, all topped with straw hat shades! These family rooms have a double plus divan beds to sleep four.
EXPLORER ROOMS....Ahoy there! These rooms are great fun, with lamps made out of captain Morgans boots and a compass on the table just in case you lose your bearings!these rooms have a double and bunk beds to sleep four
Both these rooms are priced between £99at the cheapest and £160 at the most depending on when you opt to stay. There is also an explorer room that can sleep up to five.Prices for this are between £109 and £200.
THE OBLIVIAN BEDROOM....Feel the fear in the bedroom that takes this rides name and try to get a good nights sleep if you can-because tomorrow you must face the ultimate white knuckle ordeal! The oblivian bedroom sleeps two adults and up to four children
THE NEMESIS BEDROOM....Maybe you can pluck up enough courage
to sleep under the watchful eye of nemesis, but can you recruit enough brave souls to share the spooky experience with you?In the dark of the night, will you shiver at the thought of those relics from the awesome white knuckle ride that surround you...or the relentless gaze of that terrible eyeball??This ones not for the faint hearted,or the light sleeper!the nemesis bedroom accepts two adults and up to four children
THE CHOCOLATE BEDROOM...Dreams just dont come sweeter than this!Welcome to the famous chocoholics paradise where you'll melt into bed in the most heavenly surroundings.Theres a dressing table made of giant chocolates and-the mouth watering 'piece de resistance'-a wacky machine that dispenses seemingly endless supplies of scumptious chocolate! This room sleeps two adults and up to four children
THE COCA-COLA ROOM...This is the real thing! The perfect surroundings for a totally refreshing nights sleep, this luxury room is themed in the classic red and white. Its brimming with bubbles, giant ice cubes and a most unusual fizzy drink cistern in the bathroom. And of course, theres a real live coca-cola fountain with the magic drink on tap twenty-four hours a day. This room sleeps two adults and up to four children.
All these rooms are charged at the same rate varying between £199 and £300
....ROMANTIC SUITES FOR TWO.....
THE ARABIAN NIGHTS SUITE....Could this simply be the most romantic hotel suite in the world??Step inside and-shazzam!-your in a world of mystery and sensual pleasures.Recline luxuriously on richly tapestried floor cushions in the gentle light of magic lanterns and ali baba turban lamps,a soft tented roof above you.Pamper yourself in the magnificent marbled bathroom complete with jacuzzi and fineally retire to your canopied bed, perhaps to glimpse the starry midnight blue arabian sky.A very special experience for two adults.
THE PRINCESS SUITE...Close the door behind you and you enter the world of a fairy tale medieval castle-a place where princesses and their knights in shining armour can escape in the fantastical surroundings of a castle tower. The walls trail with roses, the king-sized bed is swethed in satin, the superb marbled bathroom even has a jacuzzi. This is unashamed luxury for two adults.
The most expensive of all rooms as they only sleep two,but prices are the same as the themed rooms above.
There are also a few rooms available in either Peter rabbit or Benjamin bunny themes.Priced between £129 and £210.
Please remember that all prices are for the room,NOT per person.
Most of the time if you book a room between sunday and thursdays Alton will give you 2 free tickets per room per night, cutting the cost of the room for a start as this saves you up to £50,just make sure you quote "brochure ticket offer"when you call to book your rooms!
You will also get early entry into the park so you can leg it to the big rides before the gates are even open to the public, leaving you to take it easy and maybe savour the beautiful gardens and history alton has to offer. You can choose to take the monorail or you can walk via a PRIVATE woodland path, but beware it is longer then it seems and there is plenty of walking to be done around the park!
A continental breakfast is also included in the price of your room!
So come on...does it really seem as expensive as others say??FREE tickets....FREE early entry...FREE breakfast.....trust me it really is worth experiencing for yourself, the kids will love it too,and one last thing....DO NOT miss the chance of using the lift in the hotel by taking the stairs..if it is in use,WAIT!(DONT WANT TO GIVE TO MUCH AWAY,BUT IT IS COOL)

The park itself is a great day out for all,for adults and teens there are plenty of white knuckle rides and new ones opening every year, such as Nemesis, oblivian and the new AIR which opened in 2002 and gives you a real sense of flight, tho this ride is not exactly meant to be white knuckle, more of an experience.
Then we have the 'oldies' which i have always had great pleasure in riding,we have the original rollercoaster, the log flume(which i will admit is in need of an update!)but still a great ride in which you tend to get quite wet!T he river rapides are also a 'wet' ride but very exilerating!
Plenty to do for the kiddies as well, with the all new 'ug'land, tea cup rides, and plenty of little rides.
If your a little more into the scenic side of life then Alton Towers is set in lush gardens which do take time to walk around, there are also the swan boats which go very slowly around a beautiful lake on a track under the water.
There really are countless rides here, something for all,the run away mine train, ripsaw, haunted house,HEX-which takes you within alton towers house itself,a cool ride but a little disorientating!
If you want to know you have to see for yourself what this great place has to offer,it really is the best day out in the UK for ride lovers.....but thats just my opinion!
