Advantages: Portable Disadvantages: Connection to computer is via parallel cable so slow data transfer
...place any CD-ROMdrive in the device as the CD-ROm that comes with it is removable so maybe you could remove the drive and put a DVD player in it so you can transfer it from computer to computer. Or use it as a CD-R, CR-RW or DVD-R to backup data from computer. Its has many uses!
Price - now I'm not sure I bought this product years ago! I have had mine for over 4 years! and still working prefectly! Price new would be about lets say £50-80 and second hand about £30-50.
Its a good buy for advanced users in problems with computer with no CD-ROMs or for backup or for a portable DVD type system. Try it! I recommend it!...

Advantages: Burns the CDs effortlessly and no coasters Disadvantages: Not a DVD recorder
...Before Deano accuses me of being rich again, I must state, this is something bought for me! A CD Writer with DVD capability. Thats right. Capability.
What that does NOT mean is that it doesn't burn DVDs. It is a DVD reader and CD writer. Got that? Good. Had to clear it up .
Ok, well lets have a look at this drive then eh?
Overall specification.
For starters, this is an internal drive that fits inside an existing 5.25 inch drive bay on your computer. You know the one I mean? You probably have a spare one on the front of your computer or you have an existing CD Romdrive in there already. This drive has the option of running alongside an existing CD Romdrive or completely replacing it. That is because it also reads CD's.
My reccomendation? If you have a spare drive bay, leave your existing one in there too. This will speed up copying...

Advantages: Does The Job Disadvantages: Called Baby
...Why did they call this product baby? I know it's small but they could have come up with a btter name. Anway onto the review.
I purchased this Amacom Baby (Sigh) DVD-RW with my well earned paper round money a few years back. I got it secondhand off my uncle who didn't want it anymore so it was passed on to me.
I gave him fifty pound for it and took it home to start burning.
Setup was easy because this is an external player. All you need to do is find a spare USB port on your computer and plug in the DVD RW. The computer will pick the driver up and all you need to do is to pop in the CD-ROM and install the software.
You get all the software you need to start burning DVD's but I used Sonic and Nero. I found the on disc software was a little out of date and didn't have many special features.
You'll find many computer users in offices...
