Advantages: Has a picture about a parrot Disadvantages: I killed my neighbours parrot because of it
...This is a fabulous book. I don't own it personally, but share it with my neighbours, as they keep parots, which I have to look after.
Well, not anymore....
This book is incredibly confusing, I read it in the belief that it would teach me how to win one of my favourite online games "http://www.freegamesonline.dk/funnygames/insanegames/polly/index.php" Polly the kleptomaniac parrot. I soon discovered stabbing, netting, shooting and encouraging parrot homosexuality was wrong in the real world. Yet still that was too late..
Guide to owning a parrot teaches about how to own your parrot, not how to get the perfect headshot whilst its in mid flight.
I beg of you, learn my lesson and do not buy this book.
However if you want to kill parrots i would reccommend this book...

Advantages: Easy to Read, gentle storytelling Disadvantages: Chapter topics chop and change a bit
...the troublesome parrot of the title who adopted them , volunteer land-workers, building an eco-pool and the arrival of a dam in the region.
Regardless of the topic Chris tells you exactly as it is without dressing it up for comic effect, as Chris often sees the comedy in everything (apart from, possibly, the dam) and has no need to exaggerate. All the chapters are well-written and I enjoyed all of them in spite of their diversity.
I have marked this book four stars as the sometimes random nature of the chapters can be a bit annoying, however it probably also captures the random nature of farming in the Alpujarras!
I also maked the book as 'pretty useful'. It is essentially a family biography rather then a travel or farming guide and you are unlikely to use it as a reference book - just as a jolly good read....

Advantages: Practical and helpful tips for the new father Disadvantages: Not a baby care book
...When I learned that I was going to become a Dad, I logged onto Amazon and ordered several pregnancy and babycare books. When they arrived, instead of helping me look ahead with confidence, it made everything seem even more daunting: pumps, breast pads, sterilisers, different shaped dummies and pacifiers, how to pick him up, how to make him burp (how come when I do that I get a smack?) and as for the pictures of the actual childbirth it brought tears to my eyes.
I realised that I didn't really know very much about this, and I was never going to feel capable, confident or competent. But also there didn't seem to be much of a relevant role for me; after conception, my job was done, I'm just the father. It began to look like it would not be much fun, and certainly nowhere near as much fun as the conception was.
Then I saw this book...
