Amazon has no way to control the third party sellers on the market place. So be careful when you buy. you will (or might) get your money back if somethings go wrong but that is close to 30 days since you placed your order. Moreover there is added complication that your plans of using what you ordered will get thrown down the well because it arrives later than you wished and expected based on which you ordered.
Well if the only benefit of using Amazon Market place is that your money is safe, i wonder if credit card companies provide that cover already. And you could arguably get the things cheaper from the third party seller directly if finally you are taking the risk of a dodgy third party sellers. I am not sure if Amazon has any policy that is followed in spirit (rather than the text) to ensure that third party seller stick to what is written on the website when you buy. for example, i bought a Canon 450D (not cheap) and it said - all items are normally dispatched in 1-2 days, but 6 days later nothing has been dispatched.
If i have to buy an item i need to keep my obligation of paying up so why shouldn't the sellers keep up their obligation of delivering the goods i am paying up as per the requirements.

Some good notes on the reliability or otherwise about sellers. You might want to add a bit more background such as how easy it is to place an order, list an item, the basic idea behind the Marketplace section etc.
Advantages: one of the top 2 market places to sell you products Disadvantages: email correspondence / questions from buyers gives them access to you private email address
