Amazon is shaking up retailers, both big rivals and small independent stores, as it speeds its way beyond books toward its goal of becoming a Web-sized general store. Amazon.com offer more than 2.5 million titles and are the leading Internet bookstore. They will ship books anywhere world-wide, and offer excellent value, with up to 30% off the publisher's price (and this is off US prices, which are usually lower than prices in Europe).
Amazon.co.uk are very similar, but based in the UK, so if you're ordering from Europe you'll find the postage quicker and cheaper. Last time I looked they charged £1.95 plus 50p per book for shipping to the UK, more elsewhere. Some titles are only available from Amazon.co.uk who will ship anywhere in the world.
