Started off as a small American company selling books, but now it's the world's biggest online mail order company. Advantages: Huge choice of items, Sellers system is great for buying and selling Disadvantages: Buying from amazon direct can be more expensive and items are sometimes delayed in arriving
I've been using Amazon to buy and sell books, dvds and albums for many years now, and though the experience has been a positive one overall it hasnt been without its downsides. Amazon, as everyone who hasn't been living in the Tora Bora caves for the past fifteen years will know, has long since grown from a tiny online book shop ran out of somebody's garage into a massive international distributor that sells everything from televisions to tshirts. ... ...direct from Amazon though, I often find that dvds, albums and the like can be bought cheaper elsewhere, either from other large distributers such as play.com or on auction sites such as Ebay. Another option however is to buy from Amazon sellers, that is, independent sellers who sell their wares through Amazon and hand over a portion of their profit in exchange. In my experience using sellers is normally preferable to ordering directly from Amazon, ...

Advantages: Price, range, delivery all excellent Disadvantages: Customer services line should be open longer
I've bought all sorts of stuff from Amazon, particularly hand to find books and DVDs, and don't think I've ever had a problem. Their range and prices are unmatched in my opinion, and I don't bother looking anywhere else. I've even started to buy from the marketplace merchants as their prices seem to be vey low on just about anything. Sometimes I've even bought DVDs and books from their US based merchants and have always been surprised at just how ...

The layout of amazon is good on the whole and I like the idea of having reviews of the item on the item page. Once your account has been setup, buying through Amazon couldn't be easier. It only takes one click of your mouse. The very competitive ... ...are at least 10/20% cheaper than the High Street Retailers. Even Ebay, infamous for its low prices its often beaten by Amazon. Delivery costs next to nothing and is even free if you choose super saver delivery. By Amazon standards this is the slowest delivery option, but having said that, the item still normally arrives within 4 days. The reason why the prices are so low is probably mainly down to being completely online; meaning no shops to pay ...

...and ordered three books from Amazon.co.uk on Sunday 7 June - Hilary Mantel's Wolf Hall, Sarah Waters' The Little Stranger and A.S Byatt's The Children's Book- and they were with me on the morning of Tuesday 9 June.
Much recommended - the website is straighforward and the delivery time - in my own experience - is excellent. There are massive discounts on the shop prices of most items. The books i ordered would have cost me over £45 in the shops but ...

Advantages: well designed site, quite easy to navigate, good for books /dvds mainly for me Disadvantages: not good for all products-shop around as always for what you want
The Amazon website and brand was founded in 1994 and was launched online in 1995. It started off initially as an online book shop providing an alternative to traditional offline bookshops. Since then the website has diversified to include a wide range of products including Dvd's,computer games, toys, Cd's.Mp3's, electronics etc. It is currently America's largest online retailer. It has some separate sites for individual countries such as the Uk , ... ...website is quite well designed and easy to navigate with tabs and links on the side showing the different departments and product categories. You can also search for a specific product if you want to.You can choose to buy from amazon themselves or there are other marketplace options with sellers who are registered on amazon who may or may not sell the item you would like for cheaper. I have not used the site too much recently but have found it useful ...
