All the books in the rainbow fairies series are aimed at a reading target group of girls aged 4-8 years old. This is about preschool to year 3 when they are just getting to know the basic structure of sentences and learning to recognise the longer words. These books are really great for any glitter girls to encourage them to read as the storyline and the appearance of the shiny cover motivates them to pick up the book and explore the pages. I shall be reviewing this second book in the series: Amber the orange fairy.

Cover: An attractive shiny front cover with a watercolour themed cartoon of Amber the orange fairy on the front and ocre orange clouds pattern which extends to the backcover with sparkles. The cover itself is made of paper and isnt covered with a glossy plastic layer, unlike some other more expensive books. But you could do this yourself if purchased some covering plastic from a local staionery supplier like WHSmiths.
Story: This book is the second in the series, following on from Ruby the red fairy. As with all of these in the series of books it tells the story of the Rainbow fairies. Each book concentrates on the background and adventure of one of the fairies. The books are only 80 pages long, filled with magical pictures and the text is large and simple. The idea of these books is to encourage reading and imagination, rather than actually be taxing and a word learning experience.
The basic story line for this book is all about Amber, the second in the line up to be introduced from the rainbow fairies. Rachel and Kirsty are still at Rainspell Island for vacation, they have no idea what kind of magical adventure awaits! The seven Rainbow Fairies have been banished from Fairyland by the wicked Jack Frost. If they don't return soon, Fairyland is doomed to be colorless and gray. The girls have already found one Rainbow Fairy, but now Amber the Orange Fairy is trapped in a seashell! Can they rescue her, too? This story tells how the girls continue their collection of fairies to help defect the evil Jack frost.
Hannah really likes these books even though she can read them in less than an hour as the vocabulary and set out is really straight forward as theres pictures on almost evry page and some have double pages with illustrations and only one sentence!
Overall a 4 star rating, highly recommended for any little princess. However it's recommended you buy the whole series in one go as at only 80 pages it an be read in one day easily and by the time she wants to read another one there might not be enough time to nip out to the shops.
Advantages: helps to build confidence in young readers Disadvantages: none
...Trapped inside the shell is Amber the rainbow fairy. The girls have already found her sister Ruby and reunite them. This is a great story and has helped my 7 year old daughter along her way of being a fluent and confident young reader. The story is very interesting and it keeps her gripped at all times. The story is broken down into 6 chapters. There are lots of pictures throughout the book to break up the text. This book has 73 pages. At the end ... ...the next book in this mini series (Saffron the yellow fairy). These books are widely available from many retailers, we got this one from Asda for 3.99. I would recommend this book to any young reader, to help them become more confident reading on their own or to others. The book is laid out in a way that is not intimidating to an early reader. I find that just the look of some books can put off my daughter from reading them on her own, but not this ...

Advantages: It has funny parts in it aswell. Disadvantages: If confident reader, could be a quick book to read.
Amber the orange fairy, a great book from the rainbow magic series and when I was a bit younger I did read it and enjoyed it. As obvious, this book, and all other rainbow magic books, are more directly pointed out to be books for young girls who love to read and believe in a bit of magic. I won't spoil to much of the book for you, but let me tell you Kirsty and Rachel are two girls that are best friends and fairies always come to them when they need ... ...and the fairies always try to fix it up without Jackfrost casting a spell on them. Rachel and Kirsty are always a big help to the fairies. If you have little girl about the age of seven you might like to buy her the book as a present, because I guarantee it will be a great read! ...
