All the books in the rainbow fairies series are aimed at a reading target group of girls aged 4-8 years old. This is about preschool to year 3 when they are just getting to know the basic structure of sentences and learning to recognise the longer words. These books are really great for any glitter girls to encourage them to read as the storyline and the appearance of the shiny cover motivates them to pick up the book and explore the pages.

The cover itself is made of paper and isnt covered with a glossy plastic layer, unlike some other more expensive books. But you could do this yourself if purchased some covering plastic from a local staionery supplier like WHSmiths.

Story:
This book is the second in the series, following on from Ruby the red fairy. As with all of these in the series of books it tells the story of the Rainbow fairies. Each book concentrates on the background and adventure of one of the fairies.
The books are only 80 pages long, filled with magical pictures and the text is large and simple. The idea of these books is to encourage reading and imagination, rather than actually be taxing and a word learning experience.

The basic story line for this book is all about Amber, the second in the line up to be introduced from the rainbow fairies.
Rachel and Kirsty are still at Rainspell Island for vacation, they have no idea what kind of magical adventure awaits! The seven Rainbow Fairies have been banished from Fairyland by the wicked Jack Frost. If they don't return soon, Fairyland is doomed to be colorless and gray. The girls have already found one Rainbow Fairy, but now Amber the Orange Fairy is trapped in a seashell! Can they rescue her, too?

Overall a 4 star rating, highly recommended for any little princess. However it's recommended you buy the whole series in one go as at only 80 pages it an be read in one day easily and by the time she wants to read another one there might not be enough time to nip out to the shops.
