Ambre Solaire's Express Spray Bronzer gives a believable fake tan for those of us who really need it - those with very fair skin.
I bought it on the basis of the of the shop assistant's recommendation to use sprays rather than creams to prevent streaking. Ambre Solaire, at £7-8 was the cheapest option with a name I felt I could trust.
The spray smells of apricot which is a pleasant change from your average chemical smell and gives a pale golden result which is supposed to develop in about 2 hours.
I found that the tan took much longer to develop than this but it dries quickly so doesn't stain clothes - no need to wander round naked for hours! I found that twenty minutes to half an hour was more than enough time. If you want a bit of colour for a special evening, it's probably best to apply it the night before - you'll have a tan by morning and feel brilliant all day. Its a good idea with any fake tan 'cos then if you get streaks you have a chance to get rid of the worst!
The tan seems quite dark and orangey when you first see it but after a shower pales to a normal colour. Two layers is equally believable for the real fake tan worshipper.
TIPS!!!! Apply moisturiser all over about an hour before application.
Reapply moisturiser to dry skin and insides of arms etc. before applying fake tan - this prevents over tanning.
Spray from your feet upwards so you don't streak what you've already applied.
Massage in circular motion using both horizontal and vertical movement to give an even result.
