The two fitted sheets in this set are made from cotton in colours to match the Natures Nest baby hammock and are made to fit the hammock's soft mattress snugly. Like the hammock they are fully machine washable and with two sheets, you can have one on the hammock and one in the wash.
Advantages: Snug and cosy, can be used as a travel bed, baby sleeps! Disadvantages: Very expensive and unusual
...it could have been coincidence, but she immediately started sleeping well when we put her in the hammock. She would fall asleep easily, only wake for breastfeeding, and then fall straight back to sleep when put back in the bed.
- The baby does look lovely and cosy in the bed - much more so than in a cot or moses basket
- You can help get your baby off to sleep by rocking and bouncing
- The bed looks nice - you have a choice of fabrics, we chose a natural cotton which we found much more attractive than the flouncy version pictured here
- Because of the height of the hammock I could look directly at my baby from bed
- Although quite big the bed folds down flat into its own bag and is very easy to put up/down so its easy to travel with
Disadvantages:
- Its very expensive - we paid about £150
- We found it outlived its usefulness at about 7...

Advantages: lightweight, easy to use, versatile Disadvantages: zip noise could wake a lightly sleeping baby
...We bought this travel cot before the arrival of our own little one, as we had friends flying over to visit us with their one year old and they didn't have space in their luggage for their own (traditional) travel cot. The cot has an RRP of £90 but is available from some online retailers for £65.
Setting up the NestEgg
The NestEgg was extremely easy to set up - it literally popped out of the bag! There is a self inflating mattress that blows it self up when you release the valve - you then close the valve to trap the air inside. I tried to insert the mattress in the base fully inflated, which was rather awkward, but then noticed there would still be access to the valve from outside the base, so I let some air out and it was much easier!
Disassembling
At 5 months pregnant and with a bad back, I was still able to put the Nest...

Advantages: Great value if only you now the amount of use you would get out of it. Disadvantages: Bit bulky and takes time to blow it up
...in the nest was quite short as by the age of 7 months she could crawl out of it and it had become quite dangerous (now was the time for the baby walker - does it end!!)
It took quite a lot of time to set up as you have to firstly relax the inflateable tyre and place in the material, and then blow the tyre up taking about 20 minutes with good breathe.
I then passed it on to my cousins little girl and she was a lot smaller than Hana and she has had a lot more use out of it.
I suggest that if the baby is strong and slightly bigger than the average baby then the value of the Baby Nest would not be worth buying brand new, but if the baby is small then it is ideal.
Nevertheless, Hana got some use out of it after crawling out, she would sit on her knees on the outside of the nest and still play with the toys and squeeky bits....

Before writing about this book, I'd like to tell you about a different book. It's a work of nonfiction, 'The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test' by Tom Wolfe ('A Man In Full', 'The Right Stuff'), and I don't think I exaggerate when I say it compelled me to read more
You must have heard of the book Chicken Soup For The Soul - the original, which I am reviewing now, has sold eight million copies worldwide, there have been dozens of follow ups and it has even featured in an episode of Friends! I must say though, that... more
