Advantages: Portable, dries laundry, filters air, multiple settings, cheap to run. Disadvantages: Slightly awkward for emptying if you have long nails :)
We had a serious problem with dampness and an equally serious problem with the cost of electricity and the continual wet weather. With no radiators to help dry clothes, the tumble dryer was eating into the household budget. That's when I found out about dehumidifiers and how economical these can be, plus, they can be beneficial to your health.
After much research, I settled for the AmcorDC800 Dehumidifier & Air Purifier in one. I got mine for less than £80 including P&P and it has been the best purchase I've made in 2008!

Advantages: Easy to use, efficient, good value for money Disadvantages: Heavy to carry
We recently had our damp cellar converted into a living room, although despite the membrane and water extraction pump, there was still some dampness in the air. We bought the AmcorDC830H to remove moisture and to heat the room, as there is no radiator in there.
The unit is designed to remove moisture (up to 15 litres a day) from a 4-bedroomed house, although at present we are just using it in the cellar. After just a few hours it felt drier, warmer and much more comfortable. The tank holds 6 litres of water and has a cut-off function and tank-full light to tell you when it's full and to prevent overfilling and spilling.
There is also a humidistat feature, so you can have the heater or air purifier working without the dehumidifier if you wish.
Overall, I'm really pleased with it. ...
