American Consumer Opinion Panel (which I'm going to shorten to ACOP straightway - for both ease of typing and reading) is another paying survey site. ACOP is owned and operated by Decision Analyst Inc. an international marketing research firm in Fort Worth, Texas, USA. Membership of their panel is free and in return they offer paid survey work to their members.
** WEBSITE ** Website address is www.acop.com. Please don't be put off by the American slant to their name - membership is available to all nationalities and non US residents. Their website offers links to French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese translated pages. It's a fairly dull looking website - not particularly impressive, but it does give you the basics of what you need to know. The FAQ section and the privacy policies are particularly impressive. It's a plain white background with black and yellow text. Main options are:
~ Join ~ Information (background on ACOP) and Registration (Sign up link) ~ Help Section ~ FAQ / Security Policy/ Terms of Use / Contact details. Extremely comprehensive and tells you loads of stuff you never knew and may not even need to - all thanks to litigation scared USA I guess. ~ Members ~ Update or delete your details / Fun survey section / Previous survey results.
There are some fun surveys on their home page but there is no reward on offer for taking part. They are mostly trivial questions with an American slant - often with no suitable categories or answers for other nationalities.
** REWARDS ** Rewards for taking their surveys are paid out in sterling cheques. You don't need to build up silly points with this survey company - they pay out after each and every individual survey. Cheques are posted to your home address within approximately 6 to 8 weeks after taking the survey, along with a nice letter from Anne Parks (Vice President of ACOP) thanking your for taking part. The letter quotes the code of the survey you have taken, so you can match it up in any records you may keep. However, the lack of work means you can usually work out which survey it relates to fairly easily.
In the past, they paid out in American Express Dollar Gift Cheques, which were always a bit of hassle to try and cash, but ACOP have now been replaced these with sterling cheques, making it far easier to take part.
** REGISTRATION ** Only one applicant per household is allowed. On the home page click on the Registration link which will take you to the recruitment form. It's a simple and quick series of questions - name, address, telephone number, age, sex and email address. They ask a further series of questions on your internet connection and computer capabilities. A quick question on your job and household members, you choose your own password and you're done. The registration process takes less than 10 minutes to complete, and you then get an email confirming your membership with them. Once registered, there is no specific members area on their website. You can update or delete your membership but that's about it.
** SURVEYS ** ACOP send survey invites by email from Anne Parks. The surveys cannot be accessed via their website so the email will contain the link. There is never a mad frantic rush to respond to ACOP surveys as they keep them open for at least three days, so no worries about early closure as they have already got enough replies. The email always says "We have a survey coming up and would like you to answer a few screening questions. It will only take two or three minutes. Please respond within the next three days."
Once you click on the link, the first page will always ask you to log on with your christian name and chosen password before you're taken through to the survey. You then get asked a series of 5 or 6 questions, and your responses at this stage will ascertain whether you qualify for the main survey. If you don't qualify, then they very politely thank you for your time and tell you that if you have qualified you will hear from them in the next 2 to 3 days. Basically, I reckon this is a nice way of telling you that you haven't qualified. In my experience, if you answer the first 5 or 6 questions with the answers they're looking for, you get taken through to the main survey immediately.
Before you begin the main survey, they will tell you how much you will earn and how long it will take. All the surveys I have undertaken for them have been easy and quick to do with pages loading quickly and easily. To date, I have not come across any technical errors in any of their surveys.
If you do fall at the first fence and not get past the pre-screener questions, they then enter you in a prize draw of 48 x £10 cheques just for responding. And the even better news is that this survey company does actually pay out on their prize draws. I got a £10 out of the blue in the post one day. Most impressive, as this is the first time I have ever received any so called prize draw winnings in over two years of excessive survey work!
I joined over two years ago and I've had a fairly sporadic stream of survey invites, a lot of which I haven't qualified for. I tend to receive quite a lot of surveys on new beauty/makup products from them, but I have completed other surveys on things like charity Christmas card designs and laptop computers. All in all, I have earned about £30 odd quid through them, for minimal input and effort over the last couple of years.
** CUSTOMER SUPPORT ** Anne Parks runs customer service, and any queries I've had have been dealt with quickly and effectively. They guarantee your privacy and all personal information you provide on the registration form and on subsequent surveys is kept strictly confidential. There is no referral programme in operation.
** CONCLUSION ** It's great that ACOP pay out after each individual survey, so you don't have to wait ages and build up a minimum points level like a lot of other survey companies. However, as usual, there is rather a lack of work, and on average about one survey every two months or so. Their pre-screener questions are rather stringent and more often than not you will fall at the first fence. However, you do get that free prize draw entry, and this site actually do pay out on their prize draws. If you do qualify for the full survey with ACOP, they pay well. Most surveys take next to no time, and you get a cheque within 6 to 8 weeks of completing it.
Recommended - but don't expect miracles.

Advantages: User-friendly, easy to navigate. Disadvantages: Not enough surveys.
...have been a member of American Consumer Opinion ® site for over a year now. Recently I reviewed another site and thought about reviewing this one but was put off by several excellent reviews on the site, what more could I add that hadn't been said already?
So I decided on a different approach to my review. I will be giving an overview of the site but much will be my own experience of belonging to the site. How did I find the site?

Even better, if you fill in the 'screener' or short few questions at the start, which will tell the company whether or not your suitable to take the full survey and whether or not your 'screened out', which means that your not suitable for taking the full survey and thus won't get the option of receiving any payment, your name is usually put into a prize draw ... ...really!
I think that American Consumer Opinion Panel (or ACOP as its also known as), is a handy survey site for people who don't have a great deal of time, as its not one that sends out hundreds or even tens of survey invites a week, no your more likely to only get one or two a month if that but thats fine by me, like I say if you get and complete a survey, you get monetary payment via cheque for each of these, so you don't rely on having to complete ...

...this with no risk is American Consumer Opinion (ACOP). ACOP is open internationally, so please don't let the name think this isn't for you! They send survey invites via email on a regular basis, and for each survey you complete you will receive $10.
