Rebecca

Advantages: A Hitchcock classic.
Disadvantages: A little wooden.

***INTRO*** My DVD video of the Hitchcock's classical adaptation of Daphne Du Maurier's celebrated novel REBECCA came free with the Times, because of this you don't get much more than the film, there is some advise on what to expect from the Times in this section in the future. Review of Rebecca (DVD)

A feel good romance by Sandra Brown

Advantages: Good storyline and a good potrayal of characters.
Disadvantages: Too many bedroom scenes when one or two would have been enough. Gets a bit stretchy therefore.

For all those who are suckers for romance stories, i am, Sandra Brown's books are a must read though i personally feel that this one is just a bit over the top. However if you were not too critical the book is a real good read and you would be able to identify with Caroline Dawson and Rink the protagonists of the book. It is a rich boy poor girl fall in love story. Its got its moment with another romance that of rink's sister Jane and the stable hand Steve thrown in. The housekeeper Haney is really faithful to the household and she sure wins your heart. Kept away for so many years the lovers cannot help but feel the chemistry when Rink comes home to find Caroline now married to his dad, the same person who kept them apart all this years, who is on his deathbed. A book with twists and turns, though few, but one which will have you glued ...

Review of Bittersweet Rain - Sandra Brown

Romance Novelist get a bit of romance herself!

Advantages: good story and acting, nice scenery, some funny bits
Disadvantages: Dated now, predictable ending

It is quite strange how we came to watch this film as we watched a music video on a TV show quite some time ago and I was socked to see Danny DeVito and Michael Douglas singing and dancing along in it only to be told by hubby that this is the film which it was from. Since then I have been looking out fir the film as hubby was shocked that I had never see it. To my surprise it was on one of the older movie channel ion sky recently so we recorded it and finally got around to watching it. As I have said this film was on the TV so it is a FILM ONLY review. Joan Wilder is a romance novelist and she wishes that she could have some excitement n her life just like some of the characters which she writes about. Thing take a turn for her when she gets a phone call from her sister who is living in Colombia and has been kidnapped as her now ...
