Denon's battleship receiver Advantages: Perfect muscle amp, wide array of connections, ability to drive the most demanding speakers, remote control Disadvantages: Price, weight, setup, THX Ultra 2 required to bring out the best ...are not that experienced, the Denon is well layed out and logical, to a certain degree! Right the beast is ready to be fired up; the recevier comes with a standard power cable, throw this away and buy a new one, even if it is as little as £70! It makes a huge difference. That done and I brace myself as i push the heavy weight power button. An array of lights greats me and a couple of clicking noises. Wow. Now, the on screen menus are very logical ... ...which can be harsh. The Denon handles the bass with great poise and precisition. The low end might is controlled and very strong, with the feeling that the only restricting factor is your ears! The next victim was Saving Private Ryan. The film contains a very difficult sound track that includes explosions and bullets whizzing around. Excellent money for value amp Advantages: Excellent sound quality and plenty of options Disadvantages: Nothing really I purchased this amp from my local Hi-Fi Specialists, as patr of a complete home cinema system. The amp is an excellent performer, with huge amounts of inputs and outputs that will even take me some time to fully utilise. The setting are almost endless, so I would strongly recommend getting a professional to assist you with this. The remote control helped sell this for me.....it is backlit, and activates whenever it is moved.......gorgeous !!! ... ...at the moment, and this is something that I have asked my supplier to look into. Make sure that you do not skimp on cables, and only use the very best that you can afford. All in all, and excellent purchase, and one that will satisfy all of my a/v needs for some time to come ... This will blow you away!! Advantages: Heavy Duties and feels like its powerful - which it is!! Disadvantages: Slighty heavy but i don't really care - its powerful!! This amplifier is one of the best amps i have purchased to date. It produces tight punchy bass and gives exceptional sound quality. When i first plugged it in and connected my speakers i was shocked by how much power this thing had. The guy from the shop said that it was very good and that it packed a full 200w rms (100w rms per channel). I have used it when i do discos and to be honest it has never let me down, only problem is of course is that ... ...power whilst without on the move then get your hands on one of these! This amp can drive four speakers and handles them very well. You have total control over your channel levels and can switch between channel A or B or both. Channel A drives two speaker and same with B but when both are on then you get four speakers. Arcam hits all the right notes Advantages: Great stylish looks, wide soundstage, powerful but crisply detailed Disadvantages: Quite an expensive amplifier Arcam have built a reputation founded on quality, reliability and are synonymous with producing affordable amplifiers which target those who are looking for an extremely smooth sounding component for their hi fi. This amplifier is part of a range also known as DIVA and though this might sound like a strange name with reference to a woman, it stands for digitally integrated video audio. The main advantage of this feature or so Arcam claim, is it allows ... ...to it. The Arcam A85, offers 85 watts per channel which does not mean much more volume than a typical amp, but what it does mean is that regardless of the volume, the amp will retain control of the music.
