Marantz deliver on the sound
Advantages: Great looks, expansive open and detailed Disadvantages: Lacks a little bite, not ideal for loud volumes
...within the budget range and Marantz certainly figures prominently in this group. As with all of these amplifiers, they each seem to provide their own characteristic or sonic signature. In the case of Marantz, I usually consider them to be very open throughout the mid range and delivering a crisp clean bass or "snap" to the music. Therefore it was of a great interest to me to finally hear this particular amplifier which has been so highly praised ... ...a welcome addition to the Marantz comes in the form of a source direct button. This basically allows you to bypass the tone and treble controls and therefore by shortening the signal path, you are in essence doing nothing which could potentially distort the sound. This is clearly something you can experiment with as I recognise that some people like to place a lot of emphasis on bass, but in doing so in my opinion at least, you make significant sacrifices ...

A Great Stereo Amp and a Great Used Option
Advantages: A very, very capable all rounder. No real weakness in any variety of music. Bags of OOmph. Disadvantages: No second set of speaker option making bi-wiring a bind.
This is a great amplifier. You are probably looking here as you are considering buying a used one - well go for it as you will not regret it. I have owned one for a number of years as both my main and then bedroom amp. I have used it to drive all manner of speakers from bookshelf to standmounts to floorstnders and it struggled with none of them. I have mine rigged up to a pair of Mission 773s and they are great in combination. In the past I had a ... ...CS135 passive subwoofer and this setup punched WAY above its financial weight and impressed a friend of mine used to spending thousands on pre-amps alone. I will not go into detail bere about how this amp reacts to what specific song as that to me just sounds pretentious. They do not favour one type of music over another so this would be pointless anyway. This amplifier is however only as good as the source you use anyway so match it with a good ...

Great! Sounds awsome, Looks awsome, loud and robust!
I have it in black which suits the rest of my setup, i use Whafedale Valdus 400 floorstanding speakers at 150 watts each (long term) and a mission M70c2 Centre speaker at 125 watts (long term) to broaden the frequency range, together they work like a charm!
The amplier has many inputs which is useful for me since i have my TV, decks, laptop, CD player and My IPod plugged into it which all sound ...

marantz pm7200 experience
Advantages: Loads of different features 90 watt per channel Disadvantages: size weigth and over heating
When i saw the the spec of this amp i was so over the moon i just needed to get it. I thought all of this for this amount of money no way what a true bargain indeed. So with out a second thought i purchased it and this is why i am writing this review for the ciao users so they can have that second thought. Any way I brought it home and got my mate to set it all up as he knows what he doing with this sort of equipment. i started checking out all the ... ...with a new toy that was how much excitment. The system towerd over the room just like how i wanted it to with my cd player on top of it. the amp was working perfectley and the quality i was just amazing specially with the A class mode feature. Plus with the power of 90 watts per channel the amp shown no signs of struggling. i found the tone controls of being able to change the bass and the treble to preicley how i want to a great adavantage i had ...

Good all round performer
Advantages: Good for the price paid, poweful enough to drive most speakers Disadvantages: Sounds dry compared to some other amplifiers i have heard
I bought this amplifier from ebay for £35 plus £15 p&p. It has a decent enough build quality and all the knobs and buttons move nice and smoothly and there's no crackles or other unwanted noise from them, the casing could be a bit better because there is a bit of a dip in the top panel, in the middle just behind the front panel, however this is not too much of a concern as it wont let in any dust and doesn't interfere with the operation of the amp.
... ...though i'm not the biggest audiophile in the world i can quite happily say that it has a tight and punchy bass but sounds a bit dry and lacking in treble, this is more obvious with vocals and instruments such as violins and guitars, for serious listening i would advise auditioning other amplifiers as well as this one first if you can. On the other hand if you're looking for a second amplifier to use to bi-amp speakers then using one of these to drive ...
