Review of Arcam A 85

SC-ZT1 wireless does not work

Advantages: wireless
Disadvantages: impossible to arrange in a normal living to get a good wireless speaker signal.

I have just returned the SC-ZT1 I bought recently because the wireless performance and design is extremely poor. This is proved by the user manual which states that the amplifier/transmitter unit must not have anything directly above or below it, any Wifi device within 3 metres, must be at least 50cm above the floor, and must be in direct line of sight of the speakers. These restrictions are totally impractical and make it impossible to get a good ...

NAD amp makes the music sing

Advantages: powerful, deep bass kick, excellent midrange, lots of inputs
Disadvantages: Looks, no phono stage

NAD have an extremely proud reputation of making not only very good quality amps but also positioning them at a surprisingly budget level. Sony MHC-EX9ACV Amplifier Review

Advantages: Great sound quality, reasonably small as far as amps go
Disadvantages: Menus are reasonably hard to use if you don't know how

Considering it's small size, this beauty definetly does have some brilliant bass. It also is full of features. I had a larger amplifier before this one until my neighbour gave me the one I am reviewing now. I set it up and - wow. I was simply amazed by how well it was. Anyway, the look of it is nice, the buttons light up depending on which ones you are using. There are a range of different modes that affect how the audio sounds - there is the DSP ...

A taste of high end audio

Advantages: Huge power, terrific detailed bass and midrange, can add on more amps

This NAD has been on the market for some time but the question is does it reach the standards which NAD have become synonymous with.
