Classy sounding hi-fi amp Advantages: beautiful sound Disadvantages: Not the most powerful amp around but plenty more than enough Classy sounding true hi-fi amp with well rounded low end and clear transparent top end. Very enjoyable musical sound that complimented all styles of music. Although I mostly used it for listening to indie/rock music I used to sneak on the occasional classical CD too. Fantastic sound, but needs more features! Advantages: Perfect quality sound, great build Disadvantages: Lacking in connectivity options ...technology to it. However, this is only to be expected, as Rotel could hardlyhave been expected to predict the future whilst making it! Top quality entry level Amp Advantages: Value for money, excellent sound, bi wire abilty and upto 4 speakers Disadvantages: plain looks if you like shiny things This amplifer was my first introduction to the world of real hi-fi equipment and quite simply it was an absolute bargin. I have this connected to an NAD cd player and B&W 602 s2 speakers and it sounds fantastic. I find it produces very warm sounds with an excellent bass response. This may be an entry level amp and only rated at 40 watts but it has plenty of power, many other cheaper amp's my show more power, when it comes to it they loose clarity ... ...sony amp rated at 80 watts per channel) This amp really does benefit from high quality interconnectors, speaker cables and make sure they're fitted with gold plated bannana plugs, it really does make a difference. It looks quite plain and understated. When my hose was broken into this amp and cd player was left behind in favour of a £100 Awia system with lots of flashing lights. Arcam hits all the right notes Advantages: Great stylish looks, wide soundstage, powerful but crisply detailed Disadvantages: Quite an expensive amplifier Arcam have built a reputation founded on quality, reliability and are synonymous with producing affordable amplifiers which target those who are looking for an extremely smooth sounding component for their hi fi. This amplifier is part of a range also known as DIVA and though this might sound like a strange name with reference to a woman, it stands for digitally integrated video audio. The Arcam A85, offers 85 watts per channel which does not mean much more volume than a typical amp, but what it does mean is that regardless of the volume, the amp will retain control of the music. SC-ZT1 wireless does not work Advantages: wireless Disadvantages: impossible to arrange in a normal living to get a good wireless speaker signal. I have just returned the SC-ZT1 I bought recently because the wireless performance and design is extremely poor. This is proved by the user manual which states that the amplifier/transmitter unit must not have anything directly above or below it, any Wifi device within 3 metres, must be at least 50cm above the floor, and must be in direct line of sight of the speakers. These restrictions are totally impractical and make it impossible to get a good ... ...two weeks moving equipment and furniture and the speakers ended up in a position where I might as well have wired speakers. You cannot find out about this major design fault until you try to use it because no one else has written a review. You would expect something at that high price to be brilliant, but it is far from it.
