Amstrad CDTV
The Amstrad CDTV is a box of tricks that will provide you with hours of good fun. I managed up a 30 pounds for mine new in a special promotion with Tesco. When it first came out not many people bought one, mainly because it has a black and white TV and black and white TV's are no longer popular. Okay so it takes a lot of batteries (nine D cell at last count) but they do last a very longtime (mine have lasted for almost a year now and are still going strong) this CD as of reasonable quality and radio and TV reception are very good too. It comes with the mains adapter as well as a small set of headphones. The unit is rather bulky and is very heavy with batteries in, but the quality is surprisingly good for Amstrad and for the price.

The unit is not easy to get hold of anymore, but I'm sure there they will be available in car boot sales soon. If you see one pick it up and see for yourself.

The screen that is small is quite clear and it uses a rotary control as opposed to the newer digital type tuner. The CD does not have a programmable memory and the radio tuner is incorporated into the television tuner which means that if you want a different radio station you risk losing the television station you were watching too.

All in all this box of tricks as well as the money.
