The trick Amstrad have implemented here is to make it seem that the option is able to be removed and you can stop the polling...however the option has NO effect what-so-ever and the only thing to do seems to be to unplug the phone, and smash it into a near-by wall. I purchased an Amstrad emailer around summer 2005, and at first was excited about my new phone/email receiver as I had no PC to access my emails and thought this would be the perfect solution. A few months down the line after I had the chance to trial this phone believe me when I say it has been througholy ripped out of the phone socket and replace with a bog standard BT phone. ...to anyone considering getting an Amstrad Emailer - do reconsider for you own pocket, try investing in a PC as I have done as with the emailer your only pay the price of the PC and more on calling your email. I recently got an amstrad emailer, I bought it from an auction so didn't read the small print on the box. Yes its packed with features and is a very good phone in that respect. BUT it calls premium numbers automatically every day! It checks to see if you have any emails by ringing a number which costs 17p, (that comes to £62 a year) you cannot disable this feature even if you don't use the email (I never intended to in the first place).
