This phone is quite simply a gimmick, unless you really will make use of all its features, and don't have any access to similar facilities elsewhere. Logically, it is not worth buying a phone... more

I hate computers! Well okay there great when they work and all is fine, but when anything goes wrong and you have to ring a technical help line to be made to feel like some thicko, THEN I hate computers! Recently my pc packed up working properly, and despite my efforts of reloading WXP over the top of the pre-existing WXP it still failed to work. I saw no choice but to reformat my hard drive and reload WXP on a fresh ‘new’ disk. I truly hate ringing the help line, and not only due to being made to feel stupid, but also the cost. Anyhow, all went well and my pc was up and running! I felt well ... more

I have just an amstrad emailer, an early christmas pressie actually and it really is excellent. The phone itself, has tons of features, it stores up to 700 telephone numbers in its on screen address book, this is useful for easy dialing direct, and for each person you can add, home number, home address, office, email and mobile. You simply select address book from its very own little keyboard, highlight the name and press home , office etc and it dials it for you.It also has a built in answer machine that allows you to record your own greeting also.Plus the email facility, you are allowed 8 ... more

Advantages Advantages Clear display, answering machine, fax capabilities

Disadvantages Disadvantages 17p a day charge, bad sound quality, overall rubbishness

I purchased this phone in the latter half of 2004 I believe. I should never have made that purchase. I saw the ads, read the reviews and thought "great! a phone with a futuristic design, silver look, LCD screen...". Now I know that you should always read the small print. This phone calls a premium rate number every day to "poll" for emails and get advertisements for the screen. Some networks may charge more than others. The trick Amstrad have implemented here is to make it seem that the option is able to be removed and you can stop the polling...however the option has NO effect what-so-ever ... more

Advantages Advantages large Caller display sceen, access to email

Disadvantages Disadvantages Calls premium numbers on auto to check for email

I purchased an Amstrad emailer around summer 2005, and at first was excited about my new phone/email receiver as I had no PC to access my emails and thought this would be the perfect solution. A few months down the line after I had the chance to trial this phone believe me when I say it has been througholy ripped out of the phone socket and replace with a bog standard BT phone. The reason the amstrad emailer and myself fell out was down to theses factors; Around 8-10 times daily the phone auto dials a premium rate number - just to check if you have any mail and if you don't - tough cookies kid ... more

    Advantages Advantages lots of features

    Disadvantages Disadvantages HIDDEN CHARGES

I recently got an amstrad emailer, I bought it from an auction so didn't read the small print on the box. Yes its packed with features and is a very good phone in that respect. BUT it calls premium numbers automatically every day! It checks to see if you have any emails by ringing a number which costs 17p, (that comes to £62 a year) you cannot disable this feature even if you don't use the email (I never intended to in the first place). If you block the number to stop it from calling amstrad have even designed it so the phone shuts all of the features down so you can't use it. DO NOT BUY and ... more
