I purchased an Amstrad emailer around summer 2005, and at first was excited about my new phone/email receiver as I had no PC to access my emails and thought this would be the perfect solution.
A few months down the line after I had the chance to trial this phone believe me when I say it has been througholy ripped out of the phone socket and replace with a bog standard BT phone.
The reason the amstrad emailer and myself fell out was down to theses factors;
Around 8-10 times daily the phone auto dials a premium rate number - just to check if you have any mail and if you don't - tough cookies kid you've been charged anyway. Its not that I'm a skin flint but when your phone dials premium numbers all day long and you get your bill per quarter you can imagine the silly prices you end up paying.
You have the feature to send SMS messages at what nearly £1 a go -- I think I'll miss.
Well my personal advice to anyone considering getting an Amstrad Emailer - do reconsider for you own pocket, try investing in a PC as I have done as with the emailer your only pay the price of the PC and more on calling your email.
You will of course get the Amstrad emailer at a rather cheap cost initially I paid £27.99 for mine from Argos,do be aware the phone is of cheap plastic and as much as you may think the screen will make it look smart, you can't disguise the fact that it is of cheap empty material.
