Whilst I may be able to do without bread, water and milk there is one absolutely essential item that I cannot live without – Anadin Extra.
I’m sure that like me, most of you will have tried an endless number of different brands of pain killer over the years, with varying degrees of success, but I have never found any brand of pain killer as effective as these. As far as value for money, convenience and effective are concerned I have absolutely no criticisms of this product.
Effectiveness =========
I have taken Anadin Extra to combat a number of different types of pain. They are particularly effective against headaches, or those all over body aches that you suffer from during a cold or flu attack. I find that within just a few minutes the pain or ache is already subsiding, and within fifteen minutes it has completely gone. I have also used Anadin Extra against tooth ache, ulcer pain, neck strain and hang over symptoms– all with excellent results. If I am running a temperature, Anadin Extra are also extremely effective in controlling feverishness.
Dosage and Safety =============
The suggested adult dosage is 2 tablets, no more often than every four hours. I find that if I take two tablets, they remain effective for at least five or six hours – if I have a cold or flu and take two tablets in the morning I don’t need a repeat dose until at least two or three o clock in the afternoon. The tablets are not suitable for children under the age of 12. The active ingredient Aspirin is linked to Reye’s Syndrome, which is a rare (but serious) condition associated with children and teenagers who have contracted Chicken Pox or flu.
As with any other product containing paracetamol you should never exceed the stated dose. It also states on the packet that these are not suitable for:
Pregnant women People with stomach ulcers Asthmatics Kidney or Liver Disease Sufferers
Anadin Extra should only be used on an occasional basis – prolonged dosage (ten days or more) may be dangerous.
Convenience =========
Anadin Extra come in packs of 8,16, 32 and 64 tablets. The 8 packs are slim and compact – perfect for carrying around in a briefcase, whereas the 64 packs come in a little (child-proof) bottle which means that you have a good supply in the cupboard. I particularly like these tablets because they are tasteless, and have a special coating which makes them extremely easy to swallow. In fact, I can even take Anadin Extra whilst I am out and about even if I don’t have a glass of water. Unlike some brands of pain killer I also find that Anadin Extra do not upset my stomach and I suffer no side effects whatsoever.
Value for Money ============
16 tablets used to cost in the region of £1.32 which I thought was quite reasonable. Since the recent change in legislation, the cost of pharmaceutical items has seen a major decrease in all the main supermarkets and I noticed that the price of these has now decreased considerably to just over a pound – there was even a 3 for 2 offer on in Boots a few weeks ago. They can be purchased over the counter, without the need for a prescription which means that they tend to be sold in garages, supermarkets and convenience stores – all very handy.
As you may have guessed, I think this is a pretty fantastic product. As with anything else medical, you should always make sure that it is suitable for you personally, but I wouldn’t use anything else.

Advantages: very effective (and relatively cheap) pain reliever for most minor and common ailments Disadvantages: Still dearer than the old Apirin or Paracetamol B.P.
