It was alright for Napolean to say to Josephine,"Not tonight" because of who he was,but if you are forced to say this to your husband/wife/partner more than once a week it can be a real pain, which is why I swear by Anadin Extra. Like most of us that have written reviews and ops and the like on this subject, there is little point in suffering needlessly. Anadin Extra comes in various sizes, and can be bought from any chemists;(more expensive)or,as I do,your local over the counter supermarket. Mine happens to be Asda's.(sorry for those of you who have already read lots of my Asda selling ops!!Expect lots more over the course of time!)
Packaging:
Anadin Extras come in mainly yellow (with a touch of red and white)square shaped boxes. So are easy to open -(hurrah!) and their claim "To beat pain fast" on both the front and top side of the box was (all those years ago
when I first tried them)the deciding factor for my headaches, migraine, period pain, without being laced with co-edine/stronger more adictive ingrediants,-though I wouldn't recommend them long term on a constant basis because of the caffeine content, which the body can become quickly reliant,de-sensitised to. The tablets themselves are white, medium sized, cylinder shaped, film coated and round edged for easy swallowing. The dosage for Adults, the elderly, and young persons over the age of 12 are: 2 tablets with a drink of water that can be repeated every 4-6 hours as required. Do NOT take more than 8 tablets in 24 hours.
On the front of the box the Title ANADIN is written in bold green, and it states three things:good for "Headaches,Migraines,Acute Aches and pains."On the back it states,"...Effective relief of mild to moderate pain including headache, toothache, migraine, period pains, sciatica, muscular aches and pains, sprains, strains, rheumatic pain, lumbago, stiffness and tenderness(eg.Fibrositis),joint swelling and stiffness, sore throat, feverishness and symptoms of colds and influenza. Phew! Almost everything then... (My doctor has told me I can take 1 anti-inflammatory tablet IBOPRUFEN with this. But please don't do the same, unless you have checked with the doctor first!)
In my 13 years experience of this product,I have found Anadin Extra to be the most effective for headache, stiffness, and back ache which I have long term problems with.(I do have other more powerful pain killing tablets as back up,but these are the safest for me to try first.)
If your symptoms last for more than 3 days, consult your doctor.I have found that the only thing my doctor does is prescribe even more medication which I do not use unless all else fails! So Anadin Extra has become my best friend-and its' important that the "Extra" brand is used as opposed to ordinary Anadin in my case, and I will stress everyone is individual,so please see your doctor/shop around,as the ordinary Anadin for me,is nowhere near as effective.
Now for the Ingrediants: Each Tablet contains: Asprin ph Eur 300mg Paracetamol " 200mg Caffeine " 45mg
Also contains microrystalline cellulose (E460)
Beacuse this product contains paracetamol and asprin-NEVER take any other paracetamol-containing products. Immediate medical advice should be sought in the advent of an overdose, even if you feel well because of delayed posible damage to your liver/ kidneys-so you have been warned!! (some idiots take this with Pepsi/cola- at parties/night clubs- thinking its' better than using other drugs such as Ectasy;dangerous again! It may give you a high, but you are running the risk of serious intoxication...palpitations,increased heart beat, tremor, liver overload, dizzyness, and the like.
On the back of the box it states this quite clearly the following advice: Do not take if : you have had or are suffering from stomach ulcers. you are allergic to asprin(never give asprin to under 12's) any other NSAID or any of the ingrediants listed. And finally, not if you are breast feeding. Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine,if you are pregnant, asthmatic,or if you suffer from kidney, liver or blood disease. Any thinning of the blood would make it worse by taking Anadin Extra, because of the asprin content.
If you have questions,or comments please phone the Careline printed on the side of the packet: 0845 1110151. Or: contact the direct adress shown on the leaflet.I am sure they will do their best to respond to your query.
In the information leaflet found inside the box,it gives a detailed outline and possible side effects-which are rare,I may add. Some of which are;rash, allergy reaction, runny nose, stomach upsets/ulcers.nausea,indigestion,etc.But then, lots of medicines say this. The secret is to always eat someting first to line your stomach.
This medicine should be stored at temperatures not exceeding 25c.
Price? Varies. Asda sells these for a 16 tablet box for £1.28.
So,there you have it-all in all a very effective pain reliever.
Right,-I'm off- musn't keep Napolean waiting!!!
