In the last 3 years I have had both my knee joints replaced and am just going through having them both redone due to infection, at the moment I am without 1 knee altogether and have just a block in my leg, in a few weeks I will have to go back in hospital to have the other removed and will then have no knees for about 6 weeks so they know the infection has been cleared.
For 22 years before the replacement I have suffered pain but nothing like the last 18 month when at times it has been almost unbearable. My doctor has prescibed me various painkillers but nothing seemed to work.
On my good days I go to the shops as often as I can and on one of these days I box I hadn't seen before cought my eye, I assumed it was new at the time around 9 months ago as I had never seen it before or maybe they just changed the packaging to something more striking.
The box I saw was predominantly yellow with writing in a metallic red, silver and green. It said Anadin Ultra Ibruprofen, what struk me most though was the to beat pain fast. From readig the box I discovered that they were gel filled capsules which is why they claim to work fast because they dissolve quicker than most painkillers. I decided I had to give them a try as nothing else seemed to be working I didn't have a lot to lose.
I thought they were quite expensive at £1.99 for 16 in Savers but in Tesco they are £2.39 so it is worth shopping around for them.
As soon as I got home I took 2 capsules which is the maximum single dose recomended for over 12 years old. You can take up to 6 capsules in 24 hours. They should not be taken by children under the age of 12.
Within an hour the pain was decidedly dulling in my knees and I was able to move around fairly painfree for a good few hours after taking the capsules. I decided to take another couple before bed to see if I could have the first good nights sleep in ages and I did. I was amazed.
Now I tend to take just 2 capsules a day one in a morning to help me get everything going and one at night to give me a good nights sleep.
The capsules themselves are green in colour and if swallowed as directed there is no taste to them so to speak. However they do occasionally take more than one drink to swallow and as the gel disolves the taste although not disgusting isn't exactly pleasent.
They shouldn't be taken if you have stomach ulcers as tehy can aggreivate them nor if you are taking any other ibruprofen or aspirin based medication as it is easy to overdose if you mix medications containing the same ingredients.
Ibruprofen can also aggrevate asthma.
These tablets have been a godsend to me.
