In recent days, I have been suffering with the most horrific back pain. In my case, this is an unusual occurrence but not one which was completely unexpected. In October 2007, I had what could have been a horrific accident falling from a horse. In this accident, I narrowly missed breaking my pelvis and back. After a fairly quick recovery, I haven't suffered until now.
So, the back pain returned and crippled me in my sleep on the most important day on my sporting calendar, the 6 nation's rugby international between Wales & Scotland. I was in agony and could barely stand up straight. Asking my other half to fetch some ibuprofen from downstairs, I was surprised when he returned with 6 of these tablets, because I don't even remember purchasing these! Without the original packaging, I was simply handed a white blister pack with silver foil.
What Anadin say: "For when you need strong pain relief, the concentrated liquid power of Anadin Ultra liquid capsules hits tough pain hard. Anadin Ultra liquid-filled ibuprofen capsules are easy to swallow and are specially formulated to relieve tough pain, letting you get on with your life."
Anadin Ultra Ibuprofen are actually regular Ibuprofen, with a twist, rather than your plain and simple tablets or capsules, these are liquid capsules, they have liquid inside a tough shell. The tablets I had were a very attractive shade of green with 'Anadin' printed on the capsules. I did have a go at pressing these between my fingers but they did not burst, perforate or show any signs of doing so.
Ibuprofen is not suitable for everyone, so according to the Anadin website, you should not be taking these if:
You have or have ever had a stomach ulcer, or stomach bleeding or a perforation due to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) You are taking products that contain aspirin or any other NSAIDs You are allergic to ibuprofen or aspirin, or any of the other ingredients listed on the back of pack or in the pack leaflet You are pregnant
Additionally, it recommends speak to your GP before you if:
You suffer from asthma You are pregnant or breast-feeding You are trying to get pregnant. Ibuprofen belongs to a group of medicines (NSAIDs) which may impair fertility in women. This is reversible on stopping the medicine. You have problems with your kidneys, heart or liver You are taking corticosteroids, lithium, methotrexate, water tablets or medicines which reduce the clotting of the blood or reduce your blood pressure You have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars because this product contains sorbitol (E420)
Health advice over, on to more practical levels for review purposes.
Dose: Adults, the elderly, and children over 12 years of age: You should use the lowest dose for the shortest time necessary to relieve your symptoms. Take 1 to 2 capsules with a drink of water. Repeat every 4 to 6 hours as required.
From my own experience, 2 of these capsules have a better effect than one, which had very little effect on me.
I took 2 capsules with a glass of milk and awaited a result. There was no horrible or bitter aftertaste with this capsules, although I felt they were a bit 'thick and awkward going down my throat, but nothing I couldn't attribute to actually having just woken up and I didn't notice this on subsequent doses either.
Normally, on me, I find Ibuprofen very effective within an hour or so. I was pleasantly surprised to note that within 25 minutes my back pain was easing up quite considerably, to the point where I could not move prior to taking the tablets to having enough relief to be able to get up and out of bed. A good 10 minutes after that I was much more comfortable.
The next test of the Anadin would be how long the effects would last. Normally I get around the normal 4 hours pain relief from ibuprofen and I hoped these would be the same, if not better. Again, pleasantly surprised to report a good 5 hours effect from these capsules and no unpleasant side effects such and indigestion, which I can get with cheap ibuprofen brands.
I also noticed that I had a gradual come down from the pain relief, it didn't just suddenly have pain hit me, and I had sufficient time to seek more pain relief without really suffering anymore than I had to.
Ibuprofen is well known for anti inflammatory properties and I was also hoping that I would get some relief from the obvious inflammation that was responsible for this horrendous back pain.
Unfortunately, I think I was hoping for a little too much here. Whilst I got a good overall effect from Anadin Ultra, it didn't cure this nagging back issue, although it did ease it somewhat.
Whilst I was very pleased with the effect on my pain that Anadin ultra gave me, on closer inspection in Boots, I noticed these only had the same strength of ibuprofen in them that cheaper brands did, 200mg. There were also horrendously expensive too. For a pack of 16 capsules, Boots were selling them for £2.38; working out at 14.1p per capsule and my normal own brand ibuprofen only cost 32p normally. Just two of these capsules nearly equate to what I pay for 16 tablets in the supermarket.
Due to this pricing, I only used the 6 I had before switching to my normal brand, so I cannot say what these are like as a long term product.
I have to admit to really liking these as a painkiller but the price is simply too much for me and many others to purchase regularly when these are pretty much identical to other ibuprofen brands. Yes these do offer a slightly quicker relief from pain, but if you have severe pain anyway, you may be taking something stronger in any case, which couldn't justify the price.
I would love to keep a pack in the medical cupboard but I think in the first instance, I'd try my cheaper brand and maybe take these at every other dose.
I do recommend Anadin Ultra wholeheartedly; however, I don't recommend the price or value for money! If you can see past that, then yes, there are a better standard of regular painkillers but your chemist or supermarket may do won brand liquid ibuprofen tablets, which would probably be identical to these in the short term.
Advantages: Works! Disadvantages: Price compared to own brands
...it for this ailment, and Anadin Ultra Ibuprofen does rather jump off the shelf at you! In my local ASDA there were a number of available caplets, capsules and similar, all of which seemed pretty much the same thing. At £1.94 for 16 capsules, compared to around 49p for the ASDA own brand, this particular medication is expensive by way of comparison, and one can't help but think that that might have something to do with the slightly holographic, shiny ... ...quick and effective pain relief and decided to go with a trusted brand rather than chancing the plainer, but cheaper ASDA variations.
Another thing that attracted me to these is that they're sold as small, round liquid-filled caplets. I have difficulty swallowing pills at the best of times so this was a definite plus to me! The caplets themselves are a bright green oval shape, and less than 1cm in length, and were very very easy to swallow, bearing ...

Anadin Ultra Ibuprofen works very well. At least, it does for me. I suffer from Rheumatism and, at times, the pain can become really rather severe. Part of the problem with Rheumatism is that the affected part of the body can begin to become very hot and painful. It will also start to become inflamed.
Ibuprofen is used to help combat the following problems: Inflammation, mild to moderate pain. This includes headaches, back pains, dental pain, migraines, ... ...well, as I have said, Anadin Ultra Ibuprofen works very well, indeed. This is because, unlike other Ibuprofen products, which are in tablet or caplet form, Anadin Ultra Ibuprofen works much faster because it is delivered in the form of a liquid which, of course, gets into the bloodstream a good deal faster.
What are the benefits of this quicker delivery of the pain killing payload within each capsule of Anadin Ultra Ibuprofen? Simply this. It gets ...

Anadin Ultra capsules work so well for me that I definitely wanted to write a review about them. Every time I take these tablets for pain relief, they work very fast and are extremely effective. ...a try. Anadin Ultra Ibuprofen "beats pain fast", it boldly declared on the pack, along with the by-line "for tension headaches", "sprains and strains" and "dental pain".
Cool! I purchased a16 capsule pack and walked home to try them. Note: these are also available in packs of 8 (and 32s from pharmacies).

For this brand of paracetamol it is quite expensive in deeded!! Costing £1.75 for just 16 tablets!! Which considering you buy a standard supermarkets own paracetamol it costs approx 25 pence for 16 tablets! This price puts me off simply because they are all the same drug Paracetamol 500mg just with a 1 pound 50p difference!!
*Other Anadin products include, Anadin Extra, Anadin original, Anadinibuprofen and Anadinultraibuprofen
When needing to use this I found them effective analgesia for mild pain and would recommend then to everyone able to take them ...
Advantages: Works effectively, quickly and confidently. Disadvantages: Expensive, but it would be more expensive to suffer.
-tablet pack is available only from your pharmacy.
All the other variants are available from supermarkets, local shops, garages and other stores. In most places, espescially supermarkets they are only allowing 2 packets per customer.
I think they have done that to eliminate abuse of the tablets.

Please forgive me people but I'm not writing about AnadinIbuprofen, I'm writing about AnadinUltraIbuprofen, the new(ish) and unmistakable sexier older brother of the Anadin family.
Yesterday, after waking from what can only be described as a wonderful sleep, Sheep Lover dragged himself out of bed, headed to the bathroom and then it happened. He tried to move his head to terrible consequences. A sharp pain shot up his back, and suddenly the banging headache started.
Knowing that this was payback for the wonderful nights sleep, I casually (and without moving my head from side to side) moved across to the medicine cabinet. Upon opening there could be only one thing for it. AnadinUltraIbuprofen.
The box is the usual Anadin yellow colour with a metallic shine to it, with the words Anadin in green and UltraIbuprofen in red ...
