Probably the best book I have ever read.
Review of True Crime - Andrew Klavan by
QUEENOSHEBA
Advantages: UNPUTDOWNABLE! Gripping and exciting with a clever twist. Superb!
Disadvantages: Not indicative of Klavan's writing. Didn't enjoy the others as much.
...I couldn't put this book down from the moment I started reading it. I was completely hooked - something which doesn't happen very often to me when reading, I am very difficult to please.
My husband read the book after me - he was blown away, he lent it to his mother - she loved it. I lent it to my friend - and have never seen it since!!
Fast-paced, exciting, moving and sometimes wryly humourous. The best entertainment I have had for a couple of quid in ages!
The only real criticism I have is more concerning the author than the book itself. I really loved the book, and on that basis bought a couple of other Klavans. Unfortunately, they fell way short of a good read. I won't be buying any others - rather framing this one, if my friend returns it ......

Review of Crystal - Virginia Andrews by
she_devil
Advantages: good characters
Disadvantages: too short
...I was bought this book by a friend and being a fan of Virginia Andrews, I decided to give it a try. Compared to her other works this book was tame. It contained the usual traits of an Andrews novel, romance, secrets, hidden pasts, but it was obvious that this novel was written for young teenagers and I suppose is a fitting read to introduce them into Andrews' work.
I enjoyed the book, finding it hard to put down, but my personal opinion is that compared to Virginia Andrews' other novels, "Crystal" isn't as absorbing or as eventful.
The story follows the life of Crystal, an orphan adopted by the Morrisses. In their home she lives a life shes always dreamed, but unfortunately the Morrisses have a skeleton in their closet and Crystals ideal world is soon shattered.
Like in all Andrews' work, the heroine is both likeable and interesting...
