All you need to do is pour yourself a glass of cold water, then add 1 or 2 teaspoons of liver salts to the glass and wait for it to dissolve.
Give it a quick stir and watch it fizz. ... ...the effect is better.
I like the taste of it, even though it's a bit powdery, I still find it a refreshing drink, I've had a lot nastier drinks.
My stomach ache went within 30 minutes and I felt a lot better.
If I get heartburn or Indigestion, I just have a drink of Liver Salts and it gets to work very quickly.
It's also good for Biliousness and constipation.

If it's used for constipation, you have to up the dosage, you are then better taking two teaspoonfuls or more just as you go to bed, or before breakfast. I never get this so I don't know if it works. I've heard that people have tried it and it's meant to work, but that's only word of mouth.
The ingredients in the liver salts are~
Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Magnesium Sulphate, it also contains Sucrose.
I have the 227g size and it cost me about £3.99 from Boots.
The dosage of 1/2 teaspoons is for adults and children over 12 years old. Children 3-12 years should only take between 1/2 and 1 teaspoon. Children under 3 are not recommended to take this.

Andrews Salts is an old fashioned ‘digestive discomfort’ remedy I always have in the house. It comes in a small blue and white tin and is full of fine white powder that would probably get you arrested if you were to bag it up and take it through customs. There are up to 20 doses in this 113g tin. UPDATE: 11/03/01 - I've just seen the new packaging in Boots. It is now in a neat plastic oval shaped jar (still blue and white), with a free ... ...may also be needed as Andrews concentrates on the stomach problems).
For the above symptoms, add one level teaspoon to a small glass of water and stir. The mixture will effervesce and you should drink it quickly to obtain maximum benefit from the fizzing (as I find a good burping session always helps). Also, sometimes if I've had a really fatty meal close to bedtime, I'l wake up in the early hours, with a massive bloated stomach, on the verge of being sick. I really really hate being sick and I'l do anything to avoid it. After tossing and turning for ages, sweating and scared to be sick, I always eventually manage to hobble downstairs, barely holding it in, then make myself a dose of Andrews. ... ...and I feel on the verge of being sick, the dose takes a bit longer to work but it relieves the stress and allows me to relax in bed, burping away. It's a god send and if like me, you don't like to be sick and you can handle the taste without gagging, then you will love this product. The only problem I find with it is that if it is left in a cupboard for more than a few months, the powder starts to clump together in lumps and it becomes almost impossible ...

...with the product and Original Andrews Salts on it in blue. I vaguely remember them being called liver salts, although not sure what that had to do with anything & why the name was dropped.
The free measuring spoon is a good idea though, it means no running around for a spoon, and also makes it more easily transported.
Upon opening the jar, you find a white powder with a similar look to flour. It has no smell at all.
The instructions on how to ... ...over indulgence take 1 5ml spoonful, and for constipation, to take 2 5ml spoonfuls. It is suitable for ages up to 12, as half dose, but not suitable for children under 3.
Now the important bit, the taste. I was very disappointed. The drink seems flatter and tasteless, almost like drinking flat sparkling spring water. It also did very little for my stomach ache, although really it is unfair to comment at this stage, as it turned out to be nerves ...

I carried on doing this for the rest of the day, you have to have four hour intervals,it is best not to take more than 13 tablets in 24 hours though.
As it got to night i felt a lot better, then over the course of two/three days, my throat had got back to normal.
I thought they were very effective and would buy them again.
The tablets are also good for a long list of medical problems, including ;Headache and Migraine, Toothache, Backache, period Pain,Neuralgia, Rheumatic Pain, Colds and Influenza and Sciatica.
Apparently taking soluble aspirin get's into your bloodstream quicker than just swallowing a whole tablet.
Therefore it works faster.
