Ironically, while reading other reviews on this product, I developed really bad stomach pains & indigestion, so with this in mind, I sent out for some of this, as I remembered it tasting really nice when I was younger, and it was also very effective.
Having not tried this in possibly 10 years (mum stopped buying it when it was revealed I was actually just drinking it cos I liked the taste!) I was wondering if there were any changes in the product...
When I last used it, it came in a small tin, with a lid that you usually had to open with a spoon unless you had very long, strong nails. Now it comes in an oval plastic container with a measuring spoon.
The actual packaging hasn't changed much. The blue and white design and the writing is still the same, and the picture is also something similar. The new containers have a picture of a glass fizzing with the product and Original Andrews Salts on it in blue. I vaguely remember them being called liver salts, although not sure what that had to do with anything & why the name was dropped.
The free measuring spoon is a good idea though, it means no running around for a spoon, and also makes it more easily transported.
Upon opening the jar, you find a white powder with a similar look to flour. It has no smell at all.
The instructions on how to take this medicine state that for upset stomach, indigestion and over indulgence take 1 5ml spoonful, and for constipation, to take 2 5ml spoonfuls. It is suitable for ages up to 12, as half dose, but not suitable for children under 3.
Now the important bit, the taste. I was very disappointed. The drink seems flatter and tasteless, almost like drinking flat sparkling spring water.
It also did very little for my stomach ache, although really it is unfair to comment at this stage, as it turned out to be nerves that was causing it. However, in saying that, I find that over the last few weeks, I have used it to settle my stomach, and it does help.
I think it is an important part of the medicine cupboard though. I don't like indigestion tablets, so a drink is ideal for someone like me. It also helps with constipation.
This is available from all good chemists and many grocery stores for 3.99 for 150g, which lasts quite a while if you're using 5ml at a time.

give me natural remedies - tea made with heaped tsp basil with boiling water poured over - makes a natural anti-spasmodic for any involuntary muscles. ~~~(:-)-{{:::::|||||<

Advantages: Quickly and effectively relieves stomach upsets. Gives you the most relieving and satisfying b Disadvantages: Powder tends to clump up and go hard if it is stored for more than a few months.
