I first discovered this when I had a bit of an upset stomach and my mother told me to take some. I had always seen the pot in the medicine drawer in the kitchen but had no idea what it was and I'd heard of things like Alka-seltzer and rennie etc. as other means of indigestion relief.
The product claims to be 'fast effective relief from the symptoms of over indulgence' or something along those lines but you can use it for anything to do with your stomach feeling a bit rubbish.
Anyway, it's the most amazing product. It comes in an oval shaped white tub with a blue lid and a measuring spoon included (although sometimes the pot doesn't have a spoon with it). Either way, the dosage instructions on the tub tell you take one level spoonful of powder for upset stomach or 2 level spoonfulls for constipation.
The most ideal way to take it is to put a small amount of water in a glass (small enough so that you can take the whole lot down with 1 gulp), tip a level spoonfull into the glass, then mix it and see it away while it's still fizzing. Some people don't like the chalkiness of the powder but I think it tastes like sherbet like the sherbet you got in those sherbet fountain sweets (the tube of sherbet with a liquorice stick), which tastes lovely.
After the liquid goes down, it makes your stomach feel a little bloated then after about 10 seconds, it will make you produce the most satisfying and relieving burp you will ever have, relieving anything from heartburn to feeling sick.
It's a lifesaver for me because I only rarely get the symptoms that it relieves and it's always there as effective relief when I need it. When I get acid reflux, it makes me feel sick all day and stops me from sleeping but one dose of Andrews will calm it down.
Also, sometimes if I've had a really fatty meal close to bedtime, I'l wake up in the early hours, with a massive bloated stomach, on the verge of being sick. I really really hate being sick and I'l do anything to avoid it. After tossing and turning for ages, sweating and scared to be sick, I always eventually manage to hobble downstairs, barely holding it in, then make myself a dose of Andrews.
It always works. If my stomach is extremely bloated and I feel on the verge of being sick, the dose takes a bit longer to work but it relieves the stress and allows me to relax in bed, burping away.
It's a god send and if like me, you don't like to be sick and you can handle the taste without gagging, then you will love this product.
The only problem I find with it is that if it is left in a cupboard for more than a few months, the powder starts to clump together in lumps and it becomes almost impossible to get the powder out of the pot with the spoon... you have to get some lumps out and crush them before putting it in water.
The product also claims to relieve constipation but I've never tried it for that purpose. It claims that if you take 2 level spoonfuls of the product, it will help the constipation. I've had 2 single doses in a row (which would of course be the same just with more water), to relieve some major heartburn but it didn't give me any rapid bowel movements ;).
