... Its features, explaining different methods that are worth trying , to the angler, are a less prominent part of the paper (when compared to the magazines), but it makes up for this with additional content which cannot be found anywhere else (other maybe than 'Anglers Mail'). The Times For Anglers

Advantages: News content on a very specialised subject
Disadvantages: A paper is more difficult to read than a magazine

.../> I don't know many anglers who have not at sometime or another, looked in between these pages, and found something useful.

It basically has everything that the modern day angler would want. There are sections on all different aspects of the sport. Carp, match, sea, as well as just the sport in general.

It is also totally crammed with news, reviews, results and competitions. It has so much more than a normal fishing ...
...its packed with photos of anglers and their catches (prizes are awarded by the paper to readers who catch nice fish and have photos published), so it keeps fishing regularly as they offer some quite nice stuff.

The topics are always interesting and worth a read. It comes in paper format obviously (it is a newspaper!!), which means its one of the cheapest fishing publications available.

And finally, SORRY FOR WAFFLING ... more

Fishing news and views

Advantages: Not expensive, well produced
Disadvantages: Could do with being thicker

The Anglers Times is without doubt one of the best fishing publications around. The Times has been with us for a number of years providing fishermen and women all over the UK with up to date information and views on a whole range of fishing issues. Sections on venues and how they are fishing along with details about how the fish were caught is a favourite of mine and which I find very useful. Tackle tips and bait help are also favourite features. ...
...coming out of the lakes, Anglers Times brings you the best pictures of the best catches. I've never yet had one of mine included but there is still hope. It is not an expensive publication and I always keep a copy in my tackle bag to read during those sometimes long moments while you are waiting for that all important bite. There are always great competitions to win fishing related prizes and the normal dealers adverts which are supprisingly helpful. ...

Total Carp - Totally the best

Advantages: Good basic and easy to follow articles.
Disadvantages: Only comes out once a month, should be weekly or fortnightly

I have been a very busy reader of many fishing magazines. Over the last 15 years that i have been fishing i have subscribed to virtually all fishing mags. Alot of them i have discarded and never bothered with again. There's always a couple that you stick with out of habit like anglers mail and times. Then there are is always one that blows your mind. Total Carp is in the latter. When i first started carping everything was totally confusing. So being a man of fair intelligence i decided that the best approach was to read as much as i could about my pending quest. Well i found that the more i could read the more someone could write. I was way out of depth and more confused than ever before. Then came along Total Carp. There publication was very easy on the eye and was stuffed with information. The best thing was that it wasn't aimed ...

FISHY TALES

Advantages: Comprehensive coarse fishing coverage; cheap and affordable; helpful for real amateurs
Disadvantages: Can sometimes be a little sexist

recommended by the Angler?s Mail in a little place called Clayhidon, set in the Blackdown Hills on the borders of Somerset and Devon. We?ve been once before and it really is rural, peaceful and spectacularly unspoilt and beautiful and we have the Angler?s Times to thank for helping us locate such a great place. We don?t fish ?competitively? ? just for fun, but if you?re interested in competition there is usually some coverage of previous and up and coming events. A ?hobby? magazine such as this one, is heavily dependent on advertising, so there is a significant, but not annoying amount of marketing going on here. However, it is all relevant to the sport and that does make it less irrirating and in fact, can be very useful. One of my presents for my recent 40th birthday was a brand new, shiny, carbon fibre fishing rod, secured through ...

Why aye - Look at that fish, man!

Advantages: Great locations and scenery, interesting to see how others fish
Disadvantages: Robson Green and his foul mouth and constant whinging

small, in comparison. In addition, the landscapes and scenery look amazing and the locals that take him angling seem like a great bunch that really know how to look after anglers and show them a good time. What I don?t like about this show is Robson Green. He is a loud, foul-mouthed man who goes way over the top in every situation. I am unsure whether this is all acting to keep the viewers interested, or whether this is just the way he is. Whatever his reason for behaving the way he does I don?t like it and if I wasn?t interested in how fishing is carried out in international waters then I could easily turn off. It has got to the point where the sound of his voice makes me cringe. Why the producers choose Robson Green is beyond me. I know he is a ?famous? (and I use that word loosely) actor and singer but I thought he mainly ...
