When I first heard the the Animal Crossing franchise would appear on the DS, I just knew it would work. Having played the GameCube Animal Crossing game religiously, I knew what the game was all about. So first off, I'll tell you what the game is.

Imagine The Sims, but add a touch of Nintendo, and take away all the humans and replace them with talking animals. That's quite close to what Animal Crossing is. Like The Sims, there is no plot line. You just live your life in a Town you've created, and become a part of the community.

There are numerous things you will have to do in order for your village to prosper, including donating items to the Museum, weeding, shopping, and making sure that your neighbours are happy in their new Town.

I know you might be thinking '' Sounds a bit . . well . . . boring'' but believe me it isn't! The game runs on the DS' clock, therefor if time passes in the real world, it does in the game too. Certain fish and insects are only available at certain parts of the year, so you have to make sure that you collect everything when you've got the chance. When the real-time penny drops, that's when the game comes into it's own.

Comparing the game to the GameCube version doesn't give Wild World much justice. The graphics aren't amazing, in fact, you get the feeling that the DS hasn't been pushed graphically, if you compare the game to Metroid Prime Hunters, but that's not what this game is about. It's all about the experience. It's not about looking good, but more taking things at your own pace. There's no rush to do things in this game. There are no bosses, or an ending even. This game is all about doing everything at your own pace.

Sound-wise, I have no complaints, it's only hindered by the quality of the DS' speakers.

But Wild Worlds Trump Card is it's longevity. It will last forever. There are over 700 items that you can furnish your house or yourself with. It will take you a very very long time to collect everything. That's the charm with this game, there will always be something for you to do.

But the best part of the game, in my opinion, is the newest addition to the series. You can now, by using WFC, Nintendo's wifi service, or wirelessly DS to DS, visit your friends towns, and trade, sell or buy items from one another. You can interact with your friends neighbours, and you never know, maybe one of them will move into your town, and one of your neighbours will leave and live in your friends town! All you have to do is register each other's friend codes, and you're good to go. It couldn't be simpler!

So in conclusion, Animal Crossing Wild World is unlike any other game out there (except for Animal Crossing GC). If you've played the GameCube version, you might think that there's nothing new on offer here, but it is well worth it. I felt like that at first, but the game has sucked me in, and it hasn't let me go. I am on the game everyday, sometimes only for about 15 minutes. You don't have to spend hours on end on this game, just dip in and out of it every now and again. And that's the beauty of Animal Crossing. There is nothing quite like it, and if you ask me, it's the best game available on the Nintendo DS.
