I own two lovely Saint Bernard dogs, who mean the world to me and I am sure that every dog owner would agree and know just how expensive it can be when your beloved pet becomes ill and has to pay a visit to the vets. I was looking for pet insurance, for an older dog, on moneysupermarket.com their were only 2 available E&L and animal friends, I liked animal friends as they had gold,silver, and bronze policies but net profits go to help animal charities. I have decided to write this review after a telephone call i received from them this morning. I came across Animal Friends Insurance on the internet (www.animalfriends.org.uk) they provide car, home, caravan, travel, health and pet insurance. Having just adopted a dog from the RSPCA I immediately wanted to insure her and decided to "shop around". Finding A.F.I. I was amazed at their premiums being so cheap for such good cover. Under their standard dog policy the premium is £7.37 per month or £88.49 per year. I recently got a quote from Animal Friends for my dog. I was quite impressed with the prices I was quoted, and chose the ‘Superior’ policy which, with my chosen excess of £99, will cost me £14.35 per month, a fantastic price that is far lower than any other company has quoted me. I took out a fairly expensive comprehensive policy for my puppy with Animal Friends Insurance in October 2009. In February 2010 my puppy suffered a leg injury and needed x-rays at the vets. We completed the claim form and sent it to Animal Friends. A few weeks later I received a letter explaining that they had paid for the claim for the x-rays but they were then putting an exclusion on his condition.
