Clever Cats
Advantages: Cute cover Disadvantages: Rubbish contents
...of those books is called Test Your Cat; The Cat IQ Test which was gifted to me by a friend presumably after she had taken the 10 minutes to test her cat and thought giving it to me was a way of making room on her bookshelf for something better. The Cat IQ test is a small hardback book with an attractive picture of a cat on the front. The book is only 120 pages long, most of those pages contain a single question with room to record your response by ... ...of the test and you will discover if your cat is an undiscovered genius. Questions ask about your cats behaviour, your kitty gains points for being able to swivel his ears round to listen to sounds more clearly, getting the attention of the humans he owns and requesting food on a regular schedule. The cat also loses points for falling into the toilet or stepping in his food bowl. A practical test gets you to touch the inside of your cats ears and ...

Puss In Books
Advantages: The true story of a wonderful cat, Nicely written, Lots of appeal for cat lovers Disadvantages: Tends to over-anthropomorphisise Dewey and see only the good in him
"Dewey - The Small Town Library Cat Who Touched the World" by Vicky Myron Hodder & Stoughton, 2008 Hardback, 277pp RRP £14.99, Amazon.co.uk £7.94 Cat lovers rejoice! After years of "Marley & Me" topping the best-seller lists, a new entrant to the pet lit genre has emerged - and this time, the star of the show is feline. "Dewey - The Small Town Library Cat Who Touched the World" by Vicky Myron has proved to be so popular that it has reached the number ... ...this year, and is starting to catch on in the UK if my local library's waiting lists for it are anything to go by. This book is hardly one of shocking twists and turns: you can tell from the title exactly what you are going to get (a library, a cat, cute moggy stories, something easy to read and heart-warming) and this has evidently proved to be a winning formula. Mind you, it helps that Dewey had built up a legion of fans (predominantly in the US, ...

A great beginners book, touching on more complicated issues
Advantages: Overall a fantastic book-Covers all the basics and more Disadvantages: It's only a short book, so there's only a limited amount of information.
This book, written primarily by the much renowned Philippe De Vosjoli is a must have for anyone thinking about getting into leopard geckos.Having input from the large leopard gecko breeder and herpetologist, Ron Tremper (which the tremper albino leopard gecko is named after), and other herpetologists it is, when you come to think of it, no surprise that the book is as good as it is. It covers all the basics, from initial set up to dietary aspects, ... ...throughout, making it an easy and pleasant read. This was the first book I read on leopard geckos 5 years ago, just before my first one, and I can honestly say it is full hardy and an enjoyable read. Now I have over 8 leopard geckos and am breeding them! ...

Purrrrfect....For the British Shorthair Cat Owner
Advantages: Very informative book Disadvantages: None
...that covers everything that the British Shorthair owner needs to know. About the Author I must admit I had never heard of the Dutch author Esther Verhoef until purchased this book and was amazed to discover that Esther not only writes books on pets, but is also an acclaimed writer of thrillers too(I haven't yet read any of those so can't comment on the quality). Esther Verhoef was born in 1968 in 's-Hertogenbosch in Holland. Book Contents The ... ...with 'The History of the British Shorthair Cat' which I found particularly interesting as I never realised that the British Shorthair originated from the Isle of Man and that owners started breeding and showing them at the end of the 19th century. It goes into detail of how the British Shorthair went from domestic to pedigree cat. Physical Characteristics is the second chapter in this book and details the breed standard of GCCF, particularly useful ...
