Review of Complete Horse Riding Manual - William Micklem by ElanorRigby

Advantages: Provides a good overview of (english)
Disadvantages: Very general, basic, quite generic

...riding... I wouldn't call it complete in any shape way or form, and I wouldn't suggest it to riders of "any level". In fact, I think it would benefit mostly beginners. It is interesting enough, but there is no real insight into actually improving your riding... Unless you are a beginner. There are a lot of pictures, and it is a pleasant enough book to look through. Some of the explanations are quite good, and you might find it useful if you're doing ...
...an overview on something to do with riding.. If you are actually looking for a riding "manual", though, that will help you improve your riding, there are several books I would suggest over this one. I wouldn't actually call this a manual at all. I see it more as a simple "book about riding". There are some very handy fitness programmes and such, for bringing horses back into work, etc There are some exercises to do, and things like that... But mostly, ... Read review

The Lipizzaner, an Allen Guide
Review of The Lipizzaner (Allen Guides to Horse & Pony Breeds) - Una Harley by Martinscholes

Advantages: Good, useful book
Disadvantages: A little thin, perhaps?

The Allen Guide to Horse and Pony Breeds is one of the guides that the company publishes for the dedicated horse enthusiast and ride. It is guide number 8 in the series and is entitled The Lipizzaner. The guide is written by Una Harley and is "a full colour guide." Although it is a rather thin book, it is packed with a great deal of information. Probably more than you would get with other books 20 times as thick! It starts with an introduction ...
...give a history lesson on the breed. For I am reviewing the book, not the breed!) However, the description of the origins of the breed taught me, in a matter of a couple of pages, much more that I ever knew about these stunning white horses and their origins, which are much old than might be realised, traced back, apparently, to the Bronze Age. Though it does make reference to the Arabian influence. There is, on pages 6 to 9 of the guide a chronological ... Read review

Marley & Me - Essential Reading
Review of Marley and Me - John Grogan by stone17

Advantages: Very funny! Well written, easy read!
Disadvantages: Mascara stained cheeks at the end!

...my head the situations that Marley got himself into. I would recommend this to any dog owner or dog lover, although i'm sure that many other people would also find this a very enjoyable read. It was very easy to read and follow and very entertaining! Marley is a very loveable character and the fact that it is a true story just makes it all the more interesting. As funny as the start of the book is, the end is equally sad. I found myself crying ... Read review

Puppy dog tails
Review of Marley and Me - John Grogan by Craiglf

Advantages: Throughly entertaining read.
Disadvantages: Sad ending.

I received this book as a gift what with being dog mad and what an absolute treat of a gift. This book had me laughing and crying from the off, more so because virtually every page struck a chord and reminded me of my own much loved dogs past and present. The book tells the story of John Grogan in an autobiographical fashion centered around his experiences living with a completely mad but completely adorable Labrador trawling through adorable puppy, ...
...have ever had your own dog this book will fill you with joy and if not this book will make you want to go out and get a puppy. Highly recommended. Costs £7.99 according to back cover price guide and I understand that a children's version is also available. ... Read review
