Advantages: its a good starter book to a great series Disadvantages: none
...this is the first book in the Anita Blake series. Anita blake is an Animator and vampire slayer, living in a world where the monsters are all legal. Laurell K. Hamilton writes these books superble and includes a theme for everyone to follow. if its romance you're after, pay attention to Anita's list of lusts, and if you have a good imagination, its one hell of a good list! If you're reading for gruesome remains, visit a crimescene with Anita. Its always out of the ordinary. Its a thriller too, and a mystery! This book isn't the best one out of the series admittedly, but it's still worth the read. it gives you a nice taste of everything still yet to come....

Advantages: Good study of characters and true to life Disadvantages: none
...Anita Shreve writes fluently, and as with all of her book, this is very easy to read. It is based, along with her other books, on the East Coast of the USA and I found it gives a good feel of this areas which adds to the enjoyment of her books.
You are drawn into the different relationships of old school friends, as she writes of the emotions and experiences that most readers would relate to. The book is a good read, and gripping in its own way as the story of the two main characters, Harrison and Nora, works out. Anita writes honestly and openly about feelings, but in non-emotional manner.
I would certainly recommend this book to new readers of Anita Shreve. It is an enjoyable steady read....
