Sui Dreams is a perfume which was launched by Anna Sui approximately 8 years ago. As well as the perfume you can also purchase the matching bath and body products as well which help to layer and compliment the scent of the perfume. People who have dry skin and find that the scent of perfumes doesn't last particularly long on their skin would benefit from using the complimentary body lotion and or shower gel before applying the perfume as this would gave the scent a base to layer itself upon therefore increasing the longevity of the perfume fragrance. All peoples skin types are different and perfumes, body lotions, shower gels etc act differently on each individual because of the different oils in our skin.
As you can see from the picture at the top of this review the bottle of Sui Dreams is supplied in a handbag shaped bottle which has a gorgeous bright blue coloured perfume inside. I first noticed this perfume in Boots about 4 or 5 years ago and it was the brightly coloured perfume which instantly caught my eye. I have since bought and used up over 4 bottles of Sui Dreams in the last 4 or 5 years. Most of the Anna Sui fragrances are supplied in unusual shaped bottles, but I think that the unusualness of the packaging makes the Sui range of perfumes appeal to me because they look different from all the other perfumes on the market.
~*~Fragrance Notes~*~
Sui Dreams Eau De Toilette is described as having ~
Top Notes of tangerine, orange bitter, peach and bergamot The top notes are the first phase of
the perfume; they are usually the most volatile and evaporate from the skin very quickly. The top notes are usually very light and refreshing and their scent usually lasts for anything between five and ninety minutes
Middle Notes of freesia, peony, rose and nutmeg The middle notes of a scent are therapeutic and balancing oils, sometimes the middle notes are often referred to as the heart notes of a scent. The middle notes are not always evident and can take between thirty and sixty minutes to develop on your skin, and they last for anything between two to four hours
Base Notes of vanilla, sandalwood, cedar and musk The base notes are the longest lasting notes in a fragrance, most perfumes use the same base notes. This is because they give the perfume more staying power and stop the top and middle notes from evaporating from your skin as quickly
~*~The Scent~*~
As soon as Sui Dreams is sprayed onto your skin you can immediately detect a somewhat strong citrus aroma; although this strong aroma doesn't last very long and the scent settles down after thirty seconds or so and has a really light airy composition. One of the main reasons the perfume had a somewhat strong aroma at first was because of the alcohol content, the scent settled down really quickly because the alcohol evaporated from the skin.
The citrus notes which you can smell as soon as you have applied the perfume are that of Tangerine, Peach and Orange. Normally I don't like any fragrance or beauty product which has a peachy or apricot smell because it can sometimes smell too overpowering and sweet, but in this instance the addition of the Peach Top Note complimented the Tangerine and Orange adding some sweetness to the citrus aroma. The Tangerine, Orange and peach seem to work well in this perfume because they all smell very crisp, fresh and sweet. The peach isn't as strong smelling as the orange and tangerine; it has more of a sweet almost creamy aroma to it. The Peach isn't too strong it is quite subtle and is more of a background top note which isn't overpowering or obtrusive. I think that the slight sweet creamy aroma from the peach adds some depth to the citrus top notes creating a lighter airy aroma which isn't too citrus' and bitter smelling.
The top notes of Sui Dreams don't last very long before they gradually fade and blend in with the middle notes of the fragrance. I would say that the top notes of this fragrance only last for approximately 10 minutes or so before they are no longer identifiable. The top notes which seem to linger the most are the Tangerine and the Orange because they are stronger smelling than the peach
The middle notes of Sui Dreams are completely different to the Citrus top notes of the fragrance; the middle notes are more of a sweet floral composition which have a somewhat exotic aroma to them. I'm not particularly fond of overly floral perfumes because sometimes they can smell too powdery and mature for me but in this instance the floral notes are really light, sweet and airy. The fragrance note which is most prominent in the middle phase of the fragrance is that of Freesia because it has a really light, sweet delicate aroma which isn't too floral and has a delicate crispness to its composition. I think that the light crisp aroma of the Freesia makes this perfume the perfect summer scent. The Freesia is complimented perfectly by the addition of Rose because the Rose note has a fresh, light and sweet aroma as well and the both of them seem to blend in nicely with one another without having too much of a heady floral aroma. All of the fragrance notes in the middle phase of the perfume seem to work well together giving the perfume a somewhat exotic aroma which is complimented by an ever so slight woody/earthy aroma which is that of Nutmeg which I think adds depth and richness to the scent. The middle notes of the perfume seem to last for quite a while, I would say that the middle notes of the perfume seem to linger for a good 4 hours or so before they gradually blend in with the base notes of the perfume
Again after the top and middle notes of the fragrance have worn off the perfume smells completely different again. The scent changes from being floral/fruity to more of a sweet musky aroma, which is good for those who aren't particularly fond of sweet floral aromas. The base notes of the fragrance are mainly musky/sweet tones. The musk base note is the most evident at this phase in the perfume because it has a sweet powdery aroma which is really feminine and sweet. The musk

is complimented nicely with a subtle hint of vanilla which gives the base notes an even sweeter aroma which again adds depth to the fragrance. The Musk and Vanilla are complimented nicely with the scent Cedar and Sandalwood which gives the scent a more rich woody aroma, I think that the woody aroma from that of the Sandalwood and Cedar compliment the sweet musk and vanilla nicely because they give the scent more depth and warmth and stop it from having too much of a sweet powdery edge. The base notes of Sui Dreams seem to last the same amount of time that the middle notes of the fragrance do which is approximately three to four hours. The base notes which seem to linger for the longest are that of the Musk and Vanilla.
~*~Perfume Information~*~
All perfumes smell slightly different on different people, and this is due to us having different oils in our skin. The staying power of a scent also differs from person to person because we have different types of skin oils too. I said in the review that this perfume lasts for about three or four hours on me, but it could last a longer or shorter amount of time on you.
People who have dry skin types will notice that perfumes don't last long on their skin. If you have dry skin and have this problem you should try layering the scent of a perfume by using the matching body lotion or shower gel before applying the perfume. By doing this you are layering the scent and applying a base for the perfume to layer itself upon, so you should notice that the fragrance will last a lot longer on your skin.
If you like the sound of this perfume then I advise that you go into your local perfume store and test it before you buy it. When testing the scent spray it onto your wrist and wear it for a few hours before you decide whether you like it or not, because the scent changes the longer you wear it due to the different notes which make up the fragrance.
When testing a perfume don't smell the scent on a perfume card because it might smell lovely on the card and when you buy it and wear it at home it might smell totally different and you might not like the scent you are wearing. I made this mistake a few times in the past and wasted £30 on a fragrance which I didn't wear again and put in the bin.
~*~Staying Power~*~
Sui Dreams has relatively good staying power considering it is an Eau De Toilette fragrance ; On average the perfume lingers on my skin for a good 6-7 hours or so before it completely fades away and needs reapplied again. I think that Sui Dreams is a really lovely light airy somewhat exotic smelling perfume which is most suited to casual wear particularly in the spring summer months.
There is only one bad thing which I can say about this perfume and that is if you spray too much of it (i.e. more than 5 sprays at a time) then it can smell too heady and fruity. Less is more in this instance so I normally use approximately three to four sprays at any one given time.
~*~ Price and Availability ~*~
Sui Dreams is available to purchase from most large department stores such as Boots, Debenhams, Superdrug and Body Care. You can also purchase it from some online retailers too although priced may differ from place to place; so it is a good idea to have a look around and get the cheapest offer to you.
As well as the perfume you can also purchase Sui Dreams bath and body products which help to compliment and layer the scent of the perfume therefore increasing the staying power.
The prices for Sui Dreams perfume are as follows ~
I think that Sui Dreams is a gorgeous light airy scent which would suit people of any age because it is a nice blend of floral/fruity and sweet musky tones which make it the perfect summer scent. Personally I think that this is a very fresh vibrant fragrance which can be worn during the day. If you like fragrances such as Cool Waters and Wink then you will definitely like this fragrance as it smells similar the only difference being is that Sui Dreams has a lighter fresher fragrance,

A floral oriental fragrance containing fruity sparkling top notes that includes bergamot, more
tangerine and orangebitter, calculated to provide what the company calls "brilliant freshness." The heart consists of an erotic floral with a mix of Chinese peony, freesia and white flowers. The base features anise seeds, vanilla, sandalwood and cedarwood. Symbolizing Anna Sui's world, the bottle was designed to be the perfect fusion of two accessories purse and perfume. A fanciful, modern, and feminine creation.

Advantages: Original bottle, scent is quite nice, reasonably priced Disadvantages: A bit on the average side of scents (in my opinion), blurb on website lets it down
